hello, thank you for a review. I also have a magura rotors, had a couple of them in the past. I love their braking performance, however, exactly as you pointed out in the video..after while they start to rattle...it is very annoying. This is very dissapionting...Magura presents itself as a great braking company...but this is definetly an Huge issue for me..I won´t buy its products in the future....I had Hope rotors before, never had any issues with them..only "problem" with Hope rotors is that they are only 1,85 mm thick....i would rather have 2mm rotor...the brake performance is better..i think...

Great review! Thank you. I bought a pair of thr Attack MAG MTB Photochromic glasses, and have not yet ridden with them, but I did sit them in the sun like your test, and 5 minutes later, the lens was still nearly clear still. I am wondering if the lense is not as good as the Wildcat. I tried on the Wildcat with my Fox Speedframe Pro helmet, and the helmet rested on the frames, hence why I chose the Attack MTB instead.

I have the device now. For its price, I think it's a great device that gets the job done, and gets it done well. I do agree about the UI, it is not intuitive at all, and there is a steep learning curve. This is true for all Garmin solutions, from their bike computers, to their aircraft avionics. Garmin needs to hire younger UI designers because their UI today is stuck in the 80's.

Completely agree. For the price you pay, Garmin is a complete joke. Sorry to say this but it's true. It's so clunky. UI feels like it's from 1999 at best. I bought a 1040 and returned it after 3 weeks. Just could not justify paying $700 USD for that. Complete clown shoes. I'm going to try the Explore 2, knowing how bad it will be, but I need a bike computer. So I will just deal with the pain. Seriously considering creating my own product here soon because everything on the market is a joke. Anyone interested?

Well I have the explore 2 and I totally disagree with you .. I’ve had zero issues … battery life is excellent mapping / routing no issues whatsoever and yes you can use Komoot etc but with recent updates you can simply send from Komoot to garmin and your asked how to use it garmin or Komoot… but all in the the money £250 average in UK you can’t go wrong… maybe you had a faulty unit? But use mine since it came out and never had a problem

I recognize frustration regarding Garmin. I have had an Edge 510 for over years and years now, from the first moment i thought the processor was extremely slow. crashing, resetting, loosing all data, no GPS signal. Turning off all of a sudden.. I had a 5yr warrantee on mine and it was replaced after 3 yrs, no questions asked, because the GPS module failed. Again, resetting, rebooting to stock values, loosing data of tours and rides, The frustration all over again. Going through the hazzle configuring the screen settings is a nightmare. Somehow garmin manages to sell devices with an extreme underpowered processor. Now i thought to ugprade to a 840, but the 1040 was only 100 euro's more.. But it's so big.. so the explore 2 would seem nice. Sure, 10 yrs or so ahead in them, garmin must have their software up-to-date by now and upgraded their processors to a more potent variant. Apparently not. Thanks for your review. I'll order one to test and if performs poor, it's return to sender for sure.

Very frustrating piece of hardware indeed. Mine also decided to not turn on anymore right on the moment I was leaving for a trail. After insisting for a while (pressing the power for very long, plugging the device, etc) it did revive. But despite all its flaws - I love it. It does its job well, runs smoothly enough and has a long battery life. I think the firmware got a lot of correction since the time of this video.

You had me worried. I bought one last week and looked for reviews/tutorials and found your video. I took it out for the first time today and it worked a treat for me. When I finished my ride all the data was already on my Garmin Connect app. The only odd thing I did notice was the route I searched for was way off the mark. I cycled my regular route and it recorded everything perfectly. I have just downloaded the Garmin Express and I will download the updates. I will keep a close eye on it but it all seems fine.

I kinda have to agree. (Spoiler alert: try the Hammerhead Karoo 2 maybe. It's a much smoother and smarter experience) I am a Garmin guy, I have a Fenix 7 watch. I have tried this Edge device and also the Karoo 2 but they both kinda suck at when you only want to navigate or just explore around. They guide you through a route, no problem. But when it comes to planning a detour or see what is around, they fail. The map interface is plain ugly, sometimes it plans a totally dumb turn or route (OK, this also depends on your country's bike infrastructure too) So, yeah. I have sent both device back and I stick with my mobile.

i have a garmin edge 530, i use it mostly on road, my biggest problem is the small screen, plus the planned route is not very well highlighted on the map. And some warning message, example the route calculation error, when i leave the planned route, it needs to be press on OK button. for route planning i use locus map 3 on android and sync the GRouteLoader widget (not the connectIO app, because the widget can sync during workout) with ride with gps account. But this is not the best option if you are in switzerland :D There is another widget (IOmapReceiver) that uses bluetooth or local server wifi connection without data connection, but it did not really work for me, can't sync any route :/

For me the best videos to watch before any purchase are the critical ones (not praise)- this upload is fantastic - thank u I did end up buying with very realistic to low expectations and have not been disappointed- I just love my device and it works very well For me critical factors were 1. Budget limitations 2. Large screen 3. Predominantly sat nav on roads and some gravel- search ability in device by putting address like car sat nav 4. Basic rider stats record 5. Touch screen 🙏🏽

Now I was thinking maybe things changed for the better. But I see everything still the same. I just don’t understand ppl buying this. I ride with Pocket Earth app (I think much better than komoot with all those tracks from other people). I have the same device bought it to pair with Varia for safety reasons and navigation. Surprise the maps that garmin give you for Europe for free are not routable and you need to pay extra 25 euro for a routable map of your country. Solved it another way but overall it's hard to use your phone with Varia and a navigation app, add to that on long trips you need to pack external power source if your using your phone.

I've been using Explore 2 with the latest firmware for over a month now and I am fairly happy with it. Maps and navigation work like a charm, the battery life is decent. I had some problems with the first sync as it took about an hour to complete. Then it took some time to get use to the the menus and how to control the device. But nothing but smooth sailing from there on.

Mine arrived yesterday, pairing with the mobile app, settings, everything went very quickly (half an hour max.) - without instructions. Driving (training) and riding on a GPX track - no problem. The only drawback I see is that the declared battery life is probably wishful thinking. Jet, as someone wrote earlier, you probably misunderstood how to work with the GPS receiver. The routes loaded into this model are not typical off-road ones, there are few paths visible, but the Explorer somehow finds its way in the forest :)

I own the device and it has it’s flaws, I thought you will be talking about them. But you chose to make arguments from ignorance. You connect Komoot apps on your phone with Garmin, this syncs your history and courses. You DO NOT buy a Garmin device to use a Komoot app on it. And for retouring it’s navigation - back to start. Seriously dude it’s not that hard to find. The only thing it uses internet for is the weather. Maps are slow to turn, device restarts randomly, touchscreen is responding slowly. The device has problems, you didn’t have to make stuff up.

Each to their own. At the speed some cyclists move, then I fail to see why anyone would want a slow GPS system on their bikes. I'd be giving it a miss personally. If you pay good money, then you expect a great product IMO. In technology your selling to everyone, which means you make it idiot proof. No offence intended.
