I dont understand the logic that he needs his own pairing. I dont see anyone else to put with Hughes. Myers isnt an option in my opinion. Having the best defensive pair in the league seems like good value. I can seem on his own pairing when some of the young guns come up. Jett Woo has taken his time but I think will be in and out next year. D Petty and Tom Wilander maybe the yeae after. With those young additions it would make sense.

makes no difference if the free agents walk. They are all replaceable. zadorov joshua lindholm cole can all walk and it wont be a problem to replace any of them.
@lmcbain0664Күн бұрын
Lindholm and Cole, generally speaking I agree that they can be replaced. Lindholm will be tougher than Cole, as he was very good once healthy, but an equal "value" prop is doable - arguably Blueger gives you equal value, because of how good he was relative to cost. Zadorov is not so easy, as there simply aren't that many big men like that who also move like he does. A Joshua replacement is not so easy to get, at the price point we can probably achieve. He proved to have good hockey IQ, he has hands and vision, he plays physical and has decent size to back it up.

Until now, Hronek was a very expensive rental, so I'm glad they got this done without committing crimes against the salary cap. It's a compressed schedule between the end of the playoffs and the entry draft/free agency and teams are pretty obviously tired of waiting for the Finals to end, but I expect the NHL head office to be flooded with deals the day after the Cup is won. I feel confident of Canucks management to get the job done in the offseason, after years where saying that would have people wonder if my account had been hacked.

@@LegendaryGoetz There is definitely no more room for dead money if they want to realize their contending aspirations, but. I say Brock probably tops out in the low 7's if he replicates the season he just had which is a big if because of the medical uncertainty around him. Don't forget Demko is up the year between Brock and Huggy, but it's probably not unreasonable to bank on Silovs being his successor, a cheaper one of course
