Have u heard the new Sonny Rollins full vanguard tone poet release? I’m not at an audiophile level but getting closer. To me it’s one of my most detailed sounding records

Another gatefold sleeve comment... I have the Japanese mini-lip sleeve of Gaucho and it also isn’t. Interesting 🤔

The original 90125 was not a gatefold, no? I have the Japanese mini-lp sleeve and it isn’t.

Hi Michael, OGs should be run with 1,0m stylus, reissues with 0,7m. ERCs???? When they use the old mono-cutter-head, I assume also 1,0m. What do you think? Cheers Stefan

IMO, the remaster should sound very much like an excellent example of an original (provided the original was of engineered and pressed well). It's the lack of availability for excellent examples of the original pressing some 50 years later that makes the new one so essential! Thank you for comparing the two as I don't currently have a copy on LP and will now happily consider the remastered version.

AP is laying waste to all specialty pressings. And a hell of a lot cheaper! Not to mention the tanks they're shipped in. Hats off to Chad and company 👏 As for 90125 Changes has become my favorite over the years. It Can Happen not far behind. Great album.

Hallo Michael. I am a huge Bob Marley fan. He died the same week I was born. I agree with you 100%. Catch A Fire is one of my favourite albums of all times. I thought the half-speed master was decent but that wow experience was completely missing. That's why I decided not to buy any of the other half speed masters from the same series. I did however shortly afterwards buy the MOFI edition released in the 90s and it's excellent and a totally different experience. I can also very strongly recommend the very early West German pressings. The West German edition of Exodus that I have is fantastic and easily obtainable. It is so good that I can hardly imagine that the MOFI edition from the 90s is better. I also have an early German pressing of Uprising which is excellent, too. I can however also recommend a newer Bob Marley pressing. It is a 2 disc edition of the Best of Legend album released in 2019 that to my ears sounds very good and deserves to be called audiophile like. But the half speed masters are good nothing more nothing less. Viele Grüße aus Berlin-Wedding Dein Kanal ist super!

`Same happened to Brazilian bossa nova in the late 80's and 90's, the japanese went to Brazil bought it all out so they disappeared from shelves and the remaining ones were sky high prices.

I am hoping that you or someone else reading can help. My brother had the lime greeny-yellow vinyl version when I was a small child in the 1970s. I am sure the album concluded with a short song involving an opera singer (like the voice in Rockaria). It served as a kind of Epilogue to the album. Every version I have come across online ends with the male voiceover. Was the track I am talking about removed on more recent pressings/reissues? I am sure I didn't imagine this. Feel free to tell me if I am getting my ELO albums mixed up.

Always love these streams on Wednesday afternoon for me. Just one thought; loved hearing the Moondog albums. Maybe a stream focusing on modern-classical avant-garde recordings? Not sure if that is practical but it’s a thought. Cheers.

Not sure about Germany and other EU countries but in North America and Britain we call that Yes album 9 O 1 2 5 not 90 125. Perhaps it's different there for European Yes fans.

I was so excited to get this release of 90125. One of my favorite 80’s album. Unfortunately I was disappointed in the sonics. It sounded harsh and way too forward to me.

Michael if you care about being honest with your community then I would kindly ask you not to delete this comment (as has already been done once). The Ash Ra Temple album you used for comparison in this video is a bootleg. It’s clearly identifiable on Discogs via inner rings on the label. Sort on Discogs for German pressings and it’s the last listed. Recent reissues don’t use the original Ohr label design. I’m not trying to be rude, mistakes like this are easily made but may I suggest (as others have) that you list the exact reissues you have used. Thanks.

i have the third man pressing also which sounds fantastic. I bought the reprise edition 1975 and it sounds phenomenal. I adore this album and it opened my tastes up to free jazz, avantgarde and spoken word. Amazing review of course.

I have no dog in this fight as I have never bought a VMP record. But I seen you and others jumped off the Mo Fi bandwagon when it came out there was a digital step/process ( oh the horror) and now that VMP is having some tough times you jump ship on them too. I’m sure that if Chad ever stops talking to you and giving you free records you’ll abandon them also. And I find it hard to believe that Chad was sad, less competition for him and his overpriced UHQR

Michael, wie beurteilst Du das "Art Ensemble of Chicago"? Ganz klar einer meiner größten Favoriten, an Kreativität kaum zu übertreffen. Und die Klangqualität ihrer Aufnahmen, out of this universe.

Das is jedenfalls Fakt.

Tell me,what would you expect a LZ audiophile recording to sound like? What major differences would you hear?Well i do not think it will ever happen because what we have will be the very best you could expect LZ to sound like. The last remasters were the pinnacle of their catalogue. My reasoning is this.As we are aware Jimmy Page is a perfection specialist. He is extremely fussy and takes great pride in presenting their sound.I would say that Jimmy squeezed every last detail he could hear from the existing tapes available. He worked with the best engineers in the business and worked wonders presenting LZ in the best possible light. You have to realize these recordings are nearly half a century old,and theres only so much one can do to put these recordings out.In my opinion is what we have is the very best we can expect, and i am so greatfull for Jimmy to have spent the energy to give us these marvelous recordings,to me they sound spectacular!
