Ask about chemo cream if you are really worried about future skin cancer. I use fluorouracil. It keeps fast growing cells (future cancers) from reproducing, they die, come to the surface and peal off. It's no fun, but beats surgery.

I'm as fair as you are (I'm 58), and had a "pimple" on my nose that wouldn't go away (I rarely have pimples). It was a squamous cell carcinoma, and the surgery was serious. Then, I had what looked like a dark age spot on my cheekbone, but all my freckles are tan, not dark brown. It turned out to be melanoma. Another big surgery. I now go to dermatologist 4 times a year, and I push for things to be checked if I feel something is off. Go at least every year.
