This is not a sketch. This is a documentary from practically every corporate meeting - and not only from big corporations, but also from university administration (I know what I mean, I worked there 18 years of my life, and it was exactly like this.)

I'm nearing forty and it recently dawned on me that everything we do, including the activities we call "professional", were completely misunderstood by me and many of my coworkers. I thought any of the numbers we move up or down matter. I cared for actual productivity. Oh, what a sweet, sweet summer child I was. I can but weep over the desecrated remains of my former self. Everything is a game to us. Even - or maybe *especially* - the seriousness is part of that game. Just take a gander at the - completely unnecessary - symbolism on display even in this ostensibly cold and heartless setting: the ties, the suits, the use of color or lack thereof, the intricate role play involved in establishing and maintaining the dominance hierarchy, the "professionalism". Nobody ever cares about the origins of the ceremony or the actual purpose of it. Don't bother. Play the game. Go along. It's better for your health. Buy a nice suit and work on your articulation. Sit straight. Be formally friendly, but don't be too nice. Every once in a while be intentionally recalcitrant and split hairs. This asserts your dominance and keeps everyone "on their toes". No number ever matters. Your story matters. You are now "implementing" things and "gathering input" for your team's upcoming "thought shower". You have a lot "on your plate", but you can bet your ass everything on it will affect the "bottom line" and "gets the ball rolling". Do this and "career enhancement offers" will be handed out like herpes at a kissing booth.

I had discovered that the source materials for one job could not be used because they were defective. A director claimed his son had found a solution and demanded I hand the materials over. I refused and was backed by two colleagues with greater experience than me. This cretin argued against three experts that his son's software could overcome stuff that contained unknowable errors. I won that one but left shortly after as he wasn't removed for unprofessionalism and I was sure I'd be his target from then on.

So besides humour and bad weather, what else do the brits have going for them... Just saying? /! 😁 😭

You know, coming back to this you might be able to pull this off. You need to either use color changing ink (that will later on turn red, or be red under a certain lighting) or apply the ink in a way to make a grid that has dimensions in range of red wavelengths thus while not "being" red is reflecting red light (there is a butterfly that has blue wings because of such an effect). I'm not 100% sure that this can be achieved with red, because this might mean that blue(ish) that has around half the wavelength of red will also be reflected by such a structure... Regarding the transparent ink - it's a similar concept. P.S: Yes I get it's a skit pointing out absurd requests and expectations from non experts. That doesn't mean that experts can't come up with absurd (but possible) answers to absurd questions. P.P.S: They never said the lines should be straight so yeah, can draw 7 that will be perpendicular at the intersection.

As a systems engineer, I can relate to this 100%. Even my supervisor matches his. trying to be the liaison between the technical side and the non-technical people, but failing at both miserably.

The TOUGH thing about the IT industry is two fold... Having to grasp a hyper-complex plethora of tech, which changes constantly... At the Speed of Light! And dealing with the non-tech types, who simply haven't got a clue... About anything!!! Indeed... Give me the technical challenge, because at least it's interesting! But you can keep the Dumb Humans! 😊

I really don't see the problem. Nobody said it needed to be done in 2 dimensions. You can have 2 perpendicular lines in 2 dimensions and 3 perpendicular lines in 3 dimensions so simply add more dimensions. 🤣

Requirement is very clear. Seven lines perpendicular to each other, some of them are green and some with transparent color. So I would draw only two green line perpendicular to each other and will tell them remaining five are there but just not visible coz they are in transparent color. Problem solved 😎👍

I think I may have an answer for my next "Expert" meeting: "Yes! Anything can be done! Let's disrupt the markets and change the world!!!! .... How much money are you willing to invest in this?"
