IDK you have the heads off the fish. Josh shows a simple way similar to that done for pinks on commercial boats where the fish does not even get gut and gilled if you watch the entire video. Commercial guys clean thousands of pinks and or chums per day. The big kings are a bit different. I agree to save as much meat as you can. Many places sell the heads and scraps to boil for soup. However, charter guys can not sell any part of a fish.

That could be the case where you are fishing. Where I anchor, I really like the claw anchor! The Danforth is more likely to get stuck and does not have a good way to release. If you like danforths though that is great cause they are typically the lowest cost anchors.

* * F.Y.I.: Known as the "Uncle Thevenow" (Thev-in-oh) method of "dry" casting, it was developed back in the early 1980s by Thevenow Harold DeLaney (1927-2009) of Avon Park, Florida. The technique has only recently become widely known and utilized. Namesake of "Tommy Joseph Thevenow", a 1920/30s pro baseball player, Uncle Thevenow was an imposing blonde figure, quite a character, with a dry sense of humor. He was considered the best bass and snook fisherman in the region. NOW YOU KNOW THE REST OF THE STORY !!!

I've watched dozens of cast net videos and never would have imagined watching a video that is more than 10 minutes, yet here I was watching all 23 minutes because of how great the video was. Awesome instruction and examples of multiple styles of nets. I have multiple of the EZ Throw, and one of the fun things with them is you don't even need the second hand - just spin and whip it out there with your dominant hand, after draping the net over the ring, for pretty easy pancakes. I also have many regular cast nets as well and appreciate the non mouth/shoulder techniques you taught. :)

Hi there.. I found that video that show that trow in slow motion. Tremendous detailed trow at minut 7:30. That way of trow seems jot the best to trow very far away. The bait at curacao is smart and they start to run as they feel you aproch with boat and if you are walking near the shore you found that they stay more of the day some 14 feed fron shore They demand you to be capable to trow the net 16 geed away to catch some of them. Your first way to hold and trow seems not a way to trow very far Your second module to trow the net at minut 16 is the good far trow method. Yes we did learn from your way of trow. We would like to make a video for you si you to know the different way we hold and tow our net for both close and far away trow

A wonderful video. Can you provide information on how to see the fish before casting, during the day and at night, please?
@CaptainCody7
@CaptainCody7 Ай бұрын
That would be a good videos to make. It really comes down to knowing were and when bait is around in your area. Sometimes you have to catch it at first light, other times you can use chum. If you see diving birds the birds are likely on bait, you just have to see what kind of bait. Where are you located and what kind of bait are you trying to catch. In general finding bait in shallow water makes it easier to catch. Just make sure you are not throwing in structure where the cast net will get snagged and tangled.

Hey Captain Cody, can you break down your rod, reel, line and business end setup. Like what's the length of your leader to the bait, etc. Thanks! Also, what would you recommend in a fishing pole when jigging for salmon?
@CaptainCody7
@CaptainCody7 2 ай бұрын
In the videos description I link to articles with more information about this. The rod used is a 10 foot 6 inch G. Loomis with a Shimano Tekota 500 or 600 line counting reel. The leader length is about 6 feet. In my downrigger video I show more about this. The leaders get cut shorter for trolling. I have not done much jigging for salmon and typically just mooch or troll.
