One of the most spot on EVH tones I've heard on YT. Can you get that amp down to bedrooom volumes and get close to that tone?

I bought a 58 ri from Walt Grace vintage a little over a year ago. I was able to haggle the price a little because it was a 2022 model and I bought it in 2023. Gibson will raise the prices on these every single year, but you shouldn’t have to pay the “current” price for last years model. They were fair and I wouldn’t hesitate to do business with them again. Agree that this guitar sounds great through that amp.

Got my wine red one couple of weeks ago and it’s a fabulous guitar. Sold my 50s standard a while ago and didn’t think I’d get another Les Paul as apart from the weight I’ve always found them a bit of a one trick pony (I play Strats). The tonal variety you get with this particular model I find quite refreshing in a Les Paul and for me personally with the coil split, phase flip and direct out it makes the guitar really versatile. Looks and sounds great- compound radius ebony fretboard feels and looks beautiful. Guessing this model gonna be a real winner for Gibson.

It’s a very subtle transition from dark brown fading into red and then into amber.

Huh….well, I have the vox (and a hand wired ac30 inspired by what I found in that little ac10) I bought the damn thing on consignment because I blew the tubes in my fender, and they were out of tubes anywhere in the town I was in. So I bought it for the el84’s in it, and it instantly became my favorite amp running a jimmy page tele with the Greg Koch gristltone pickups. I did eventually go back to my fender when I blew the tubes in the vox, (a modded to hell and back blues jr in a pine box with a cannibus Rex ) The last time I was running Marshall amps, I had an original jubilee series half stack back in the 90’s. Been all about my blues jrs and blues deluxes since I ditched that Marshall (too damn heavy, and too punishing on me after standing in front of it dimed all night…lol) until I got onto those vox’s. I will say, you’ve got my interest very piqued about that little fender….the Marshall..meh….

Somebody ruined the perfectly good Les Paul to make an inferior Ibanez Artist. What a joke of a guitar.

My advice, being a pedal builder obsessed with fuzz, wah pedals, and Hendrix. Learn to build your own fuzz face or Tonebender, wah pedal, and a simple jfet buffer pedal. Signal chain is From guitar, wah, buffer, then fuzz. Then, bias and tweak the fuzz and buffer to your specific amp. The result will be a custom, and perfect combination for your specific guitar and amp.

WHY does everybody ASSUME that we ONLY Need to hear overdrive on the Bridge pickup ??? how about some woman tone ?? - neck pickup with some tone rolloff ? ? how about just some guitar playing without the overdone blues runs on the bridge pickup that all other 10 million guitarists all over the planet are copying off each other ? - I would love to hear this amp played by someone thats less intrested in showing off his Overcopied blues licks on the bridge pickup !

OK, great. But how did you nail that tone? I wish you would have talked about the amp and how you ran it.

Every knob all the way up! A little hall reverb in post and that’s pretty much it. A lot of the tone is in the hands and the mic placement technique.

Work on the timing on the phases. You're rushing it and not playing like with the breaths between notes. Your tone is also too bright

The Marshall 18-watt is legendary, no doubt about it. It's the epitome of raw, untamed tube power. I've done my research and ended up getting a Sound City Studio 20, as many say it's in the same ballpark. I’ve got a video on my channel if you want to check it out! The cleans are decent, but the overdrive is where it really shines. I’d love to hear your thoughts!
