Firstly - a fantastic idea!The name "Un-Brella" is giggle inducing and inspiring. Secondly, as a systems engineer I can suggest the way to make it mobile at low cost. Soda bottles are a great at holding pressure, you can back-pressurize water to flow with compressed air. then you have full control on how fast it drains via regulating the air pressure supplied to the water reservoir. Find appropriate arrangement of hand sprayers (like window cleaner ones) and rig a bunch of them. On paper this should work, but more research is needed. If you decide to pressurize it with dry ice, please be careful and test it to the brim before commitment. All the best!

That's a fantastic idea! Kind of like a bottle rocket, but without the flying away part. I'd definitely need to stress test it. I've been around bottle rockets that got filled a bit too much and that gets crazy

Love the video and the cover picture of YOUR IMDB worthy foot encircled by Lego-S. (Who doesnt call it Legos?). As far as the math is concerned, if you calculate 150lbs of force coming down at that speed, it’s more like jumping onto the Legos than stepping… but…. And then there is carpet, what does that do?

I grew up in the States, but live in the UK. This is relevant. Many, many years ago, my (then) husband and I visited my family in the US. I bought some Jell-O (brand gelatin) to bring home. My (then) husband wasn't working at the time. One day, when I was at work, he decided to make some Jell-O (brand gelatin). I got home and he cried 'the Jell-O (brand gelatin) won't set! What's WRONG with it. I looked at the box. I looked at the instructions. 'Ahhh,' I thought. I said to him 'tell me EXACTLY what you did.' 'Well,' he said, I used half a pint of hot water and half a pint of cold water.' 'Tell me EXACTLY,' I said 'how many ounces of water you used.' 'Ten ounces of hot water, ten ounces of cold.' I'm sure you can see the problem here. In Britain, a pint is 20 fluid ounces not 16. He had 20% too much water. That bad boy was never going to set. Great video, huge fun - you deserve much more love for this channel! And I want a ballistics gel foot. Mine would look different - I have bunions. Is that TMI?
@natescovill
@natescovill 23 күн бұрын
I didn't actually know that about British pints! I definitely don't mind the imperial system most times, but having the same word mean different measurements is insane to me, especially with the UK using a slightly different measurement. Now I just want to go to the UK to get 20% more beer in my glass

Math time. You did a decent job for someone completely out of their depth😁Looking at examples of gait graphs, average step-force is about 110-130% of bodyweight. So your guess of 100% of bodyweight isn't far off. Presumably you calibrated the arm height + weight to hit a target amount of energy. I'm not really sure where you got that target energy number from, because it depends on how fast you were walking when you stood on the lego. Ideally you would match both the force and the duration of the collision, since most things can withstand ludicrously high forces for a very brief duration. Standing on lego for an hour hurts more than breiefly stepping on it. You could've tested collision duration with either a high-speed camera or an accelerometer, EG tape your phone to the arm and look at a graph of the accelerometer to see how long the spike lasted. The most precise way would've been using an extremely fast scale, so you could test standing on a lego brick and see the exact force at each millisecond, then try to replicate that as best you can Again, seems like you did reasonably well though. Gz on the feet

Semi-pointless invention I made recently: I crocheted basically a cozy for my fire stick remote and my tower fan, then separately a necklace/lanyard-type thing, and added stitch markers to them. That way if I have the tv on while doing stuff (or just blobbed on the couch) I can hook one/both to the lanyard so I don't keep losing them lol. But more recently I bought a Roku since I was having so many probs with the fire stick, so now I have to make a new cozy for that. I also need to actually use them more often, otherwise I think I lost the remote and go mad looking for it, only to realize I was using my invention so I'd stop doing that 🤦🏻‍♀😂

oh and I just remembered another one - I have meds, ac remote, and other stuff I keep in bed with me. I was having probs losing them, so I used a bunch of my smaller leftover yarn balls and crocheted a pouch to keep that stuff in so I can easily access it when I need it (and bonus of actually using up some of my large collection of yarn!)
