Both tap and rain water contain nitrogen. There is no difference. Also you do not need much nitrogen for potted plants because it is for growing a lot of foliage, which is not needed. What you need is potassium for fruit growth in NPK formula this is the last number. So for potted mango you need med N, low phosphorus, med-high K

How many years will the mango tree take to bear fruit. I just got a mango plant from seed
@dandeleona47605 ай бұрын
Zip ties in a loop help manage those zipper toggles, especially in snow. (zone 5 up here). I bring mangoes indoors in winter, but they go outside in half dome gh facing south even when there are still snow patches. If I didn't, the summer season up here would be too short to grow mangoes. If we get sudden icy breezes, I use those inflated packing boas wrapped around the young mango, especially around delicate top leaves that are more sensitive to cold. The air inside the pillows hold heat, and serve to disrupt air movement that creates wind chill. Turbulence in the cold air stream help stop chill bite. Also, I pack clear plastic bags with loose brown paper packing, packing styrofoam or soft foam, or bags of those plastic boas, and cuddle sensitive plants in them to get them thru the night. Works good creating a microclimate inside the microclimate of a gh. I like your solutions to some of the problems. You've given me some ideas! Thanks! :)

You should PRUNE once you harvest the fruit, what happens is that the tree will send energy to push out branches and slow down the development of the fruit.

Great video. Very informative. I learned a lot. Thank you. But don't you recycle your first pour 4 or 5 times over with a catch basin under the pot and make the plant drink all that nutrient-rich rainwater as many times as it needs? Worm castings are not cheap. I stretch it out longer.

I planted a mango tree from seed 3 yrs ago, in a pot indoors, it grew beautifully, it even started branching !! But some of its leaves started browning around the egdes and became dry...i repotted it into fresh soil and was shocked to see how long the roots were...its doing well in its bigger pot and fresh soil, how long will it take to really settle well and should i take off the browned leaves or leave them till they fall off by themselves,? its now almost a month after repotting.

What kind of mango tree is that?
@mybackyardfruits62999 ай бұрын
Hello, 👋 this mango tree is call mango Manila. Now I bought this tree in a swap meet with no label or tag and that’s what the salesman told me, but I am not 100% sure if that’s the right name. This tree does really good in not so cold climates. I live in a cold climate area and what you see in the video is the average quantity I been getting every year. Thank you for your comment and for watching my videos 👍

How is that tree now? Any newer vids with it?
@mybackyardfruits62999 ай бұрын
Hi 👋 that mango tree is no longer with me, the winter of 2022 I didn’t brought it inside my garage like I did every year and the cold started to affect it and also I think that my soil had to many wood chips mix in with the soil and they were rotten and that probably started to produce root rot. I did try to save it by planting it on the ground, there is a video of me getting it out of the clay pot, but it didn’t make it. Right now I don’t have a mango tree on a pot and if I do it again I will be more careful this time. Thank you for your comment and for watching my videos and sorry for the late response to your comment 👍

I love your video, but unfortunately rain water doesn't contain nitrogen at all. It comes from a non living source (clouds) only living sources can produce nitrogen.
@mJake179 ай бұрын
My understanding is that rainwater contains nitrates formed by electrification/lightning in the atmosphere.

I've a mango tree but I lost my leaves to windy where I live what can to do what soil or fertilizer you apply how often
@mybackyardfruits62999 ай бұрын
Hello 👋 sylviaperez , were I live is also windy and there is not much that we can do, except planting that mango tree close to a brick wall or another tree that will take some of that wind off. Now for soil, I go to my local hardware store, a nursery where they sale only plants, trees or a nearby farm where they sale a truck load of planting soil already mix ready to use. If you want just a bag of soil, then you can use( in ground garden soil ) that say organic and mix it with your existing soil where you have your plant or tree. Home Depot, Lowe’s, target and Walmart has them, supply may vary. Here is a link to one of them, doesn’t have to be exactly this one as long as it is organic you should be fine. Now for fertilizer I am using kelogg organic fruit fertilizer, I have provided the links below. I am sorry for the late response to your comment and thank you for comment and for watching my videos 😁 here are the links Fertilizer: www.lowes.com/pd/Kellogg-Organic-Plus-11-lb-Natural-Tree-Food/50266743 Soil: www.homedepot.com/p/NEARSOURCE-ORGANICS-All-Natural-In-Ground-Garden-Soil-693/321967297?source=shoppingads&locale=en-US&pla&mtc=SHOPPING-RM-RMP-GGL-D28O-Multi-MB-NEARSOURCE_ORGANICS-NA-PMAX-NA-NA-MK863999001-24651-NBR-29536-NA-VNT-FY24_Q1-Q4_KelloggSupply,Inc._D28O_RM%2B_ES_AON&cm_mmc=SHOPPING-RM-RMP-GGL-D28O-Multi-MB-NEARSOURCE_ORGANICS-NA-PMAX-NA-NA-MK863999001-24651-NBR-29536-NA-VNT-FY24_Q1-Q4_KelloggSupply,Inc._D28O_RM%2B_ES_AON-71700000117897550--&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAAolLu9_96QHHGwXys6yDjmiHNcx5O&gclid=Cj0KCQjwir2xBhC_ARIsAMTXk87b7Vj9nUf1vPlAxtn8FcKX1IqEjXuifjY6WST-mtP9VwmXlwAraY0aAqJFEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds
