How about when my child signed my name to 3 loans without my consent?

Hi. When I was in college in the 2000s I fell ill. I was diagnosed with depression and anxiety disorder. My symptoms progressed as in 2015 my body broke down and with further examination doctors determined I had a rare autoimmune disease called dermatomyositis. This disease affected my mobility and limited the type of work I could do. (I could only work sitting down at a bank etc). In the year 2020 after all the meds to treat my chronic illness failed, my doctor put me on rituxan which is a chemotherapy. This medication put me in remission since 2022. It’s not a cure. Could I qualify if a doctor filled this out? I didn’t even know anything about social security bc I wasn’t born in the USA. Thanks

What are the signs of forgiveness process besides the normal "discharged, paid by Department of Education" $0 balance, etc? It has been 2 years. My credit history, for June, went from 26:years (the 1st student loan) to 9 years (my 1st credit card). The only way you can see the history of my loans now is if I actually click on the loans. Also, my credit score dropped. Is this part of completing the process?

I was hit by a drunk driver a year ago and now have 6 herniated discs in my neck and back. Been taking the steroid injections but doc wants to do surgery. Used to do hardcore physical manual labor as a career. Can’t do that anymore. Also diagnosed with adhd and anxiety. Does this qualify??

Your sweetness and sincerity gives me hope that this might work out for me. <3 I've asked my various medical professionals to sign the paperwork for me, but they either say that they don't know my illness well enough (I don't even know what's going on with me!) or they have a policy against signing because it sends a message that the patient has no chance of improving. I don't know what to do now ---

Try to find a compassionate primary care physician in your area then when they know you well enough (not the first visit, obviously) then ask that doc about whether or not he/ she would consider filling out the form.

I just applied and I absolutely hope it is accepted. It was impossible for me to find a school to take my transfer credits so everything I was told was a lie. As an older adult I also realize that they lied about how much I needed to take in loans. I only needed maybe 200-400 per semester after my Pell Grants but they said there were minimums of 2k in loans so thats what I did every semester . Add onto that they said I needed to be 12+ credit hours to be considered "full time" in order to get the Pell Grant..... I now know that is not true at all. I also included in my write up that the work life balance I was told about was no existent..... working two full time jobs while also going to college because they said I was good as long as I turned in assignments and showed up for exams. One of my in person classes ended up with 98% of the class failing the the only few that were passing were passing with C's (Teacher was never there, it was always the teachers aid. Tests were NEVER on the items we studied over the past few weeks. The campus eventually offered us a refund on the class or to retake the class free of charge. ..... I can still do the PSLF route in 3 years but it makes more sense for it to be forgiven this route.

I don't have any life threatening disabilities but I have so many different diagnosis mental diagnosis and autoimmune disease and other physical disabilities. I have several doctors and I don't know if I would need all the doctors to fill them out or just my PCP or the rheumatologist or the counselor or the psychiatrist I'm just really not sure if I would even qualify all I know is I have student loans from 2012 and I haven't been able to work since 2016. Also due to a car accident I was never able to get a job in the field that I studied but I have student loans from. So I guess it wouldn't hurt to apply but if you have any advice or anything to tell me I'd appreciate it.

Just apply. I did and was approved last week. I have mild lupus. Ask the doctor who knows you the best. Lucky for you, if one doctor can’t another you can ask a different one.

So this only applies if you can not work? I have ADHD and Dyslexia and I found college to be too difficult for me to manage with my disability so I didn't finish my degree. Is there anything I can do? I can still work but I will never be able to have a job that makes much over minimum wage....

Graduated Bradford School in 2010 and the school was a total joke. Nobody I know or went to class with became a graphic designer, credits don't transfer AND the school closed but it was AFTER I already graduated. I feel so stuck! I hope this class can help!

hello. i could really use your help. now that americorps counts towards pslf, in September 2024, I will have been employed by a qualified employer for 10 years. my issue is that I have the time of 120 months, but not the 120 payments. i am currently at 46, mainly due to the covid pause. background: (I did americorps terms from 2014-2017 and have been employed at the same non profit clinic since 2017). during 2015-2019, I took nursing pre reqs of and on. i was advised to do in school deferment. i was not aware of the ramifications of in school deferment vs. forbearance. while in americorps (sept 2014-may 2017) I was making less than 11k annually and was way too poor to make payments, let alone support myself. afterwards, because of the nursing classes, I was under in school deferment and wasn't making payments either, as I was paying for classes out of pocket. so for clarity, i have also not been making payments during dec. 2014-feb 2020. in November 2023, when I called pslf, I was strongly reassured by a pslf supervisor that my americorps time would be accounted for. yet today when I called I was told that if I did americorps while on in school deferment, those months would NOT count. have I shot myself in the foot? i applied to the buy back program and explained my situation but have not heard anything. it just sucks that I wasn't properly informed and now it seems like I have almost 10 years at a non profit with nothing to show for it. if you could please help me with insight, I would greatly appreciate it. thank you.
