This is a very good speech, but near the end, she says, ' I'm sure you can't imagine being without it'. Why is that? That's interesting because I hardly use my phone, and only look at it maybe 3-4 times a day. I don't sleep with it, and I definitely don't have it as 'a companion'. I'm not trying to be critical, but I do hope others can find ways to be less dependent on their cell phones one day.

The introduction part of any speech is one of the most important areas that the speaker has to focus on since it calls the audience's attention and lets them know about the requirements they will have to expect in the speech. In this speech, the speaker used a better way to introduce the audience to the topic. Persuasion was one of the strategies that the speaker relied on to make the audience see the expected perspective. The other area that the speaker did well in the speech was engaging the audience with questions that made the audience relate well with the topic and always remain connected with the speaker. For instance, the speaker lets the audience know some of the negative effects that can be experienced when cell phone usage is not regulated. The speaker kept reminding the audience of some of the events related to the topic and the approaches they needed to avoid the health-related effects of phone usage. However, despite the speaker's efforts, several areas needed improvement to overcome the possibility of unpredicted negative instances. Before making any remark, the speaker could have called the audience for attention by giving them a story that would make them relate. For this case, the speaker needed to give the audience several seconds to suggest any improvement that can be made towards a specific area before proceeding to the next point. Using this approach would have assisted the audience in changing the mentality that they had concerning the topic. Additionally, letting the audience have ample time to process the already offered information before introducing another topic would be the other initiative that would assist the speaker in improving the understanding level of the audience.
