Dear jmjcc5, Welcome aboard! I am so happy to hear you found this channel and that I have already been of help to you! I love that you have an alteration business. This is exactly how I started many years ago. People would come for alterations and ask if I also made things. It does not take long to build a clientele as the need for a good seamstress/dressmaker is always high. To financially support this channel I may start some courses. If I do, I will make a video about that. I would love to hear more about what type of alteration work you do. Please feel free to respond if you would like to. Best wishes and Happy New Year!

Hi, Sally! Today I read your comment on the wedding dress and responded. Then, I saw a big flaw in the video and took it down to replace it and that means your comment was lost. I was happy to know you enjoyed it and I loved that you thought of the dart with no knot technique. I looked at the darts closely and they are normal darts that are tied at the ends. The thread is very fine so the knot is extremely small. Thanks for watching and commenting!

You could keep your original hem without cutting it off and starting anew....... mark to where it had to be folded and pressed for a "new hem" but actually pin your old original hem to the new hemline, sew along the edge of the original hem and that's it. They have tutorials on it here on KZbin

@SewWithSally
@SewWithSally Ай бұрын
Hello, Frankjanvari, Yes, the threads can be tied together and pulled through the needle IF the eye of the needle is large enough for the knot to get through. However, I rarely do this. It's easy enough to thread a sewing machine so I just pull out the first thread and rethread it with the next thread needed.

Hello! I have a question about the fuller figures. In the previous taped sloper-to-flat pattern video you decided that the model wasn't quite full enough to extend her below-waist (skirt) darts through to the bottom of the sloper (i.e.-the hipline). How do I draft the skirt sloper darts if the darts on the intial torso sloper were extended into the hipline (for a fuller person)? In other words, what should the pattern end up looking like? Is this dart depth for fuller figures a standard measurement or is there a custom dart depth? Thanks so much for this information as always.
@SewWithSally
@SewWithSally Ай бұрын
Hi, Clauselmilord, GREAT QUESTION! If you look at this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oqm9k6KGnbSfgcksi=I4HznA5c_Y3c-oVp at minute 1:09 you will see that the torso sloper front I am using does not have the dart extend to the hip. The reason is that the model was super skinny. It is the larger bust that makes it better to do the extension yours has. So, what you can do is measure what that extension is, ( I believe on the fuller model that I draped a sloper on had an extension to the hipline that is 1/4"). On your sloper (paper that you can cut) cut up the middle of that long extension and close it all the way up to the waist. In other words, shut the extension equally to the waist. If your extension at the hipline is 1/4" then close the entire sloper 1/4". If it's 1/2" do the same, shut it entirely. What this will do at the top of the waist dart is to make it that much narrower. Does this make sense? I think it will work perfectly. I am going to work this out tomorrow and if I see a problem I will get back to you. Thanks for asking! Thanks for watching!

Dear Eddieengelbrecht7550, This is not good news! I am sorry to hear this did not work for you. I have used this method for decades and it has NEVER let me down. Also, if you look at the comments below, you will find a lot of happy people. I wish I could see how you are doing this and also the shape of the sloper you are using. In any case, perhaps try checking all numbers again. If the front and back armhole measurements are a lot different, try to find a balance by adding the two together, then add 1/4" to the back measurement and take 1/4" away from the front measurement, draft the sleeve, cut it in muslin and test it again. If the angle of the drape is not good, then try rotating it a bit to see if that helps. Best wishes! Happy Sewing!
