I use hdr filmmaker with allm on with dtm on at 4000 nits on the c3 with blk lvl at 48 and -4 dark areas from optimizer menu and it looks amazing I think. With hgig the c3 caps at only 800 nits. Like fire and other little things like that the 4000 nits is killer❤

LG's 2024 TV range is kind of a yawn fest considering how their new 32" OLED Ultragear monitor can do 4K 240hz.

Vincent you should tell Samsung their QD-OLED monitors scratch way to easily. They should have real glass instead of this soft plastic surface they have now.

waiting for comparison with s95d, still not sure if i should upgrade this generation but seems like a big improvement from the last one for both the g4 and the s95d. that said, both have their disadvantages as well this year

Hmm... The Sony A95L looks so much better in almost every shown comparison an aspects of colors and blacks. The LG has this ugly foggy blue instead of blacks/greys. As I was attempt to get the G4 - now I´m really unsure - as I can only buy once a tv in this price range for the rest of my life. Maybe I better stay with my good old epson eh-tw3200 beamer plus the panasonic ub824 with hdr-2-sdr conversion 🤔

Well ... I do have a library on NAS that includes some things that do some 140Mbps ... And couple of years ago, I did exactly this thingy with: * Philips mini-LED * Samsung * Google TV with Chromecast. Though I eventually removed it from the Philips because I want to be able to power up the TV from my phone (some apps to Chromecast, from Google Home). But surprise surprise ... Those shitheads, calling them selves engineers and product designers/managers (probably at Google) decided that it is possible to prevent TV going into "deep sleep" only if it is connected to Wi-Fi. So if it is connected to a wired internet, the TV will be unreachable after very short period of standby with anything but the remote. Don't get me wrong, I have a very long list of not so nice opinions about Philips, Sony, Denon/Marantz and many other product/engineering teams abilities and priorities.

How does the SDR game mode brightness compare on the G4 to last years G3? Is the G4 SDR game mode brighter than last years G3?
@robertb1065
@robertb1065 23 сағат бұрын
The issue here is always panel uniformity, I went through two 55" LG G3 last year and they were both junk, with noticeable hard banding and DSE/screen door. I want a G4 and will give it two strikes, then I'm done and will return it as most of these panels are unfit for purpose. I watch in a dark room and these issues stick out like a sore thumb, especially in SDR and on low brightness. For a technology that prides itself on dark room viewing and dark scene performance, this is a joke.

Compared to LG C1 that I still own, not impressed. I do wish LG would switch from sample and hold to double rolling scan sync in order to reduce or eliminate motion blur completely and achieve Plasma like performance in motion resolution. Until this day and age, then its hard to buy anything new, Dell had a professional PC OLED monitor like this a couple of years ago, had the best motion I ever seen since CRT days, not completely perfect motion res like CRT but it was darn close, using a double rolling scan method, downside this monitor was only 60Hz and cost 18k euros. I assume the reasons LG wont do this, is because it requires more expensive processing hardware to achieve this, specially at higher refresh rates.

Vincent - what's up with the low-luminance desaturation @ 3:50 ? The a95l seems closer to the reference monitor and the G4 seems more muted/destaruated? Are the TVs mislabeled or am I just dumb and looking at it incorrectly

You're not going to get a true idea of what that looks like in person because they're HDR capable displays playing HDR content presented via SDR video, presumably being viewed on an uncalibrated display. For what's it worth, I viewed the comparison A95L / LG G4 video presented in HDR10 over on @hdrtest channel on my calibrated LG G3 via an Apple TV 4K. The A95L appears to match the reference monitor more closely than the G4 based on the chosen content provided for comparison.

Finally a good review on YT. You are always a guarantee. Only 2 words were missing on the purchased audio that you didn't mention. Will you also review the Samsung S95D in the future? I would like to change my 65" GZ1500 to a 77" QDOLED, so as to have greater color coverage, no OLED metathermerism problems (I've never heard you mention this) and a larger screen. I was going for the S95C for price reasons compared to the A95L, I'm waiting to see the S95D in person. Only film 99% in HDR e tv series, never games. Thanks, you do a great job!

The lean back stand was a deal breaker for me. I don't really get why these things exist, why would I want the TV to be angled towards the ceiling? Such an odd choice, and it's a shame they haven't fixed it yet for the 77.

Does the G4 finally have a gigabit port? Disgusting that high end TVs still have Fast Ethernet (100Mbps).
