I really appreciate how expressive they all were when recording the soundtrack. Some recorded soundtracks of musicals sound kind of flat because they're just singing the songs instead of performing

This song becomes so heartbreaking in the context of the rest of DEH. He is so lonely in that moment that even just a simple intimate friendship is a dream to him that he has to make up. "He's come to get me/ And everything's ok" is an emotional gut-punch when you imagine what that moment on the ground was really like for him

I need this song………..I haven’t lost someone to suicide but I’ve lost someone many of my friends because they moved. I have a lot more at school but none of them really have social anxiety like mine. Mine is so bad that I haven’t really made any new friends this school year and I’ll be going into high school next school year and I’m scared because it’s when stuff gets really bad in the school system…………I’m pretty sure I’ll make it but as a transgender, possibly autistic, teenage boy with social anxiety, I don’t know anymore……………….
