Maybe if there was no locks it make sense next time bring them all out into shelter or into the wild? No matter legal or illegal, if something unmoral and unethical we must try to stop it. A lot of laws just ridiculous, and if we follow them we are ridiculous. We're all paying taxes(almost)) it means we're subsidizing animal farming. We are all ridiculous! Let's break together those ridiculous laws!! No all of them, but just unmoral ones.

So the existence of Measure J was largely due to luck, and its passage will need LOTS more luck ?! Tough sledding as usual... So the term CAFO was just EPA jargon relating to water pollution by larger AFOs ?! I thought it had more to do with mass confinement, and maximum torture to squeeze out more $'s. By that measure lots of smaller AFOs could well be just as bad for the animals (even if water pollution is less concentrated). Reminds me of my old rule of thumb: "If you think it's bad - it's worse!". Sort of related to: "the more you know, the worse it gets." Maybe that's why nobody wants to know? - Probably not. It's probably just an entrenched don't-care attitude... PS: Speaking of "effective coalition". I feel the Center for Biological Diversity does a good job in straddling the animal rights and environmentalist sides.

I share that goal, Jeremy. I guest co-hosted on Law and Disorder -- a progressive, anti-war radio show on WBAI/Pacifica After two episodes, they thought the animals didn't matter as much as: corporate greed, banned books, police brutality, climate crisis, war in Gaza, freeing Assange, reproductive rights. . . Every possible progressive issue was more current and more urgent. Just not animal rights.
