Thank you for posting this! My washer wasn’t spinning or draining. It took me almost 3 hours. I had to disassemble the drain pump twice because I didn’t put in the large ring in the right way and it leaked everywhere, but once I fixed that, it’s now spinning and draining. Thanks again.

I had this problem it wasn't dirt for me but I did remove the agitator from the inside and somehow a pillow case had made its way under it and stopped the draining process

I have this same machine. It will not spin a medium to large load. I will start to spin but then quit and start filling with water again. Then it quits. I then have to take wet clothes out to split the load in half and then put it on drain and spin. It will then spin the clothes the way it should have before. This is really getting old. The load is balanced but that makes no difference. Help!

One thing you are feeling is fabric softener, it is the leading cause of pump failure and stinky clothes. Great video though

Same issue here. I think my mom busted the washer putting gallons of fabric softener in it.

Solved my GE top loader not draining problem with the help of this video. Pump was clogged full of beach sand so I cleaned it out and now the washing machine works perfectly. Word of advice is make sure you get ALL of the water out of the tub or be prepared for a big water mess when you tip the washer on its side.

Thank you sirs! My wife threw a bunch of clothes with beach sand in them and the washer wouldn't drain or spin. I followed your video, took out the pump, and sure enough, pebbles everywhere. Cleaned it all out, hooked everything back up and BAM! Washer is back to normal. You are a life saver! 🙏

I just did that two nights ago! Opened it up to se what was wrong and there it was ...a pound of cat hair... locked in tight. Then I had one of those rare hunches... That wet hair might come out easier of I dried it out some.. with a hair dryer. Worked so well!

I have the exact same washer, and it's cut out a couple of times. Now that I know how easy it is to get to the parts, and that it's straight forward enough, I think I can do this in the morning, and still get out of the house by the afternoon. ;) My washer is doing the exact same thing you said yours was doing, but I think MY problem is due to pet hair and stuff getting into the pump and messing things up. We don't throw that kind of heavy soil stuff into the wash. My fear was that this was going to be a MASSIVE expensive replacement, but, seems like a couple quarters worth of a fix.

The wires have been attached the wrong way round. The loop will tend to open when tightened that way, which is unsafe. Attach the loop around the screw so the open end of the loop faces clockwise, that is the same direction the screwdriver moves when tightening.
