I use it to break on new boar and badger brushes! I’ll always keep it around for the smell and memories! 👊 not a great shave though.

Question regarding 2nd and 3rd passes; When using what is left in the brush do you essentially just use the same method of painting it all on and just see how close it is to being translucent on the skin before building again or do you find it should be pretty much ready to go as soon as you re-apply?

I use the same green Proraso but in the cream version…and of coarse with a decent Badger. I absolutely love this shaving cream. …any advantages with going with the soap version? Thanks in advance.

Not really to be honest, I just prefer soaps over creams for loading the brushes etc.

Always nice to see you well and active. Do you still use the Leaf shave? Honestly I've lost all interest in the shaving world. Haven't watched a single vid since you left and I don't really care anymore what super razor they come up with. Life is weird man. 3 years ago I was obsessed with shaving gear.

Great video Chris. I really like your honesty in your reviews, as if you find something shit, you say its shit, unlike other You Tubers who won't say a bad word about something in fear of them not getting sent anymore products from them. I've got to admit that if a razor requires a washer to be used for the handle to fit correctly to the baseplate/top cap, that is a failure on their design department, regardless of the price. To me the addition of the washer needing to be used makes me think that they found a last-minute issue with the fit of the handle and the baseplate/top cap, and rather than getting to the bottom of it and sorting it, they have thought "just put a washer on to sort it". That washer is asking to be lost/lost down the sink. I really Pearl needs to up their game in the design department, due to past problems with their razors and also with this particular razor.

The old add addage "if a job's worth foing, it's worth doing well" would stand you in good stead here. The shave is obviously worth doing, so you do what you need to do in order to get the best possible results. Great shave, mate. Great shave Cris. Years ago you tried out a british HD 500 rocket and really liked it. I had just got my own HD 500 rocket and though the same. As I remember you went against the grain for the first time in a long time with that razor. I still have mine and enjoy the history of the old Gillettes. I'm going to use it today with a Gillette Platinum blade. Do you still have yours? Maybe travel down memory lane next week if you do. Peace be with you my friend.

Thank you for such an honest review!! I'm so tired of seeing glowing reviews for pearl products by KZbinrs cos they don't want to bite the hand that feeds them!! The sleek v2 also sucks. My one also has a big gap above the blade!
@chris34668Ай бұрын
My suggestion is . Nope nope nope and nope. When you showed the one side of the top plate showing how uneven it is going down. It looked like someone had over filed it. And the non blade exposure on the other side is. Where is quality control when that one was released? I would skip that razor. I can also see if the handle was over tightened how the screw could break off just from the angle its at.
@michaeltaylor2402Ай бұрын
Not good at all just shows you how many faults can be picked identified.but to be fair I’ve thoroughly gone over my Flexi open comb and it’s Darn good but that doesn’t excuse all these issues with the Razors in the video.

Imagine what someone like Chris at Karve would do if products came out like that. He wouldn't even photograph them, never mind send them to people as a gleaming example of his product quality.

Pearl should be apologizing for sending you those poorly-made razors. Your honest reviews have convinced me to stay away from Pearl products. You are right that sending out crap for review is not smart. BTW, I love my RazoRock Game Changer. They make quality safety razors.

They had exactly the same machining problems with the early Pearl Blaze razors. All the heads were wonky. The recent problems with their single blade razor were laughable. Pearl’s quality control has historically been absolutely awful.

Not sure of the price point market Pearl are targeting. Their quality is always poor until they go through many upgrades. Agree with the aesthetics of the handle it does look like a bolt.

Question though; for a 2nd or 3rd pass using what is left in the brush do you essentially use the same method of painting it all on and just see how close it is to being translucent on the skin before building again or do you find it should be pretty much ready to go as soon as you re-apply?

If you have used the Rex Ambassador, how would you compare it to the Pearl Flexi? I've never heard of a poor soap being the cause of weepers? The lather looked thick and cushiony. But based on your experience, I'll pass on Pearl soaps! Considering all those weepers, I was surprised you didn't use alum and/or witch hazel in the post-shave. Better luck with your next shave!
@10floz30minutes2 ай бұрын
So likely true; that some soaps if were never intended for wet-shave purposing, can allow giving face/skin cuts during the shave. This problem has only happened to me when trying certain bar soaps which were NOT advertised nor intended nor labeled for wet-shaving. Soaps which are packaged and sold AS shaving soaps have been just fine, not leading to cuts to skin.
@BartBuzz2 ай бұрын
@@10floz30minutes I should have said "shaving" soaps. I've never had irritation/weepers using shaving soaps (artisan or off-the-shelf). I have actually shaved with Dove Men+Care hand soap which also says it can be used for shaving. No issues. Dove would be an acceptable substitute if need be.
