A great comparison Cris!! I can’t pick one over the other, they both shave so well that I pick grab either a CB with either a SB or OC plate, or an Overlander, and I know how that shave is going to feel before I even start. There’s a reason they are my shared number 1 in the den, I just can’t choose between them. Have a great upcoming weekend my brother!

Nice shave and very cool comparison. I have a brass Overlander with maybe 5 or 6 shaves on it and I love it. My skin is somewhat sensitive and I prefer mild-feeling razors, and the Overlander is perfect for that. I also have the Henson Mild razor (both V1 and V2), and while those are great, I think I may prefer the Overlander a bit. It's hard to say, really, because I tend to shave every 1 to 2 days and never get a chance to see how either one would do against several days growth. Anyway, if I were to compare the Overlander to the Henson, I'd say they feel equally mild and the Overlander is more efficient, but probably requires a bit more finesse than the Henson. For an absolute beginner, the Henson might be a better choice, but either would be great. Great video!

Nice fair comparison. I expected the Overlander to shine a bit more on efficiency vs the B plate. This goes to show that the shaver with their technique is a big factor not just the tool. You’ve wielded the CB for years and know it. I have them both, love them both and will keep them both. The CB is a dual edged sword where I bought too many plates in the brass and SS versions I have. Awesome flexibility but I spent too much money. Lol. Overlander is one plate and done for now. The Overlander just came out in SS recently. As of now I would pick the CB since I already have the plates in SB and OC and can more tailor my shave. The OC ejects used lather vs SB CB. Have a good one.

If you were to take the C Bradley OC "C", and do a one to one comparison with either of these....you could see a clear difference, and no need to "buff", two passes , maybe 3 and done. For some reason, I cannot get a decent shave with the Overlander.....I have the brass one (alum was no available when I got mine). I despise brass=ass smell. Refinished it in Nickel , still haven't tried it.....

Dear Cris! Thank you for this video! You helped me decide which one razor I will go with, and I will also try to detail it. Top quality video again. A few additional information for those who also struggling with sensitive skin or afraid of razor burn and ingrowns: Technical info: Overlander blade exposure : 0.07mm C. Bradley blade exposure : B plate !!!: 0.00mm This is the difference you can also hear and Cris feel at 15:39 And this is the part that made to go with the Overlander over the CB. Why? -I am not planning in the future to go more aggressive, because of my sensitive skin. Meaning I do not need the “upgradable” variant as the CB. -numbers and the video prove that 0.07mm exposure is more effective and stays as safe as the 0.00mm not to mention the blade corner, the exposed razor blade part at CB. About the brand : yes Cris, this is the Rolls Royce of DE razors. According to the details of the manufacturer it is one of a kind. Brilliant.
@mategazdag6103

One more important thing: - as the Karve writes, you can buy NEGATIVE : -0.xx mm plates for the CH. in very severe cases with very very sensitive, or medical condition skin, technically no blade exposure …. Can save the lives of some gentleman’s out there, not to mention other parts of the body. With negative exposure without blade exposure and no pressure there is no way you cut yourself imo. Fantastic alternative for. Body hair and no other manufacturer in the market who can offer negative exposure. Cheers.

@AnotherCutAbove
@AnotherCutAbove 2 жыл бұрын
I do like the C plate but I am generally a daily shaver so I need very mild shaves. The overlander and the A and B plate offer me that. This particular shave was to show the overlander against the CB with similar blade gaps to see how they fared. I got to the same point with both which was a good outcome I think. Cheers Cris

Very nice comparison shave. I always like to compare DEs with my Rockwell 6C or 6S. The 6S (using plate R4/R2) has been my daily driver for over a year and I always get close, smooth, and nick/irritation-free shaves. How does the Overlander stack up? I should mention that I don't like aggressive safety razors. Thanks for your feedback!
@AnotherCutAbove
@AnotherCutAbove 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I was always seeking aggressive razors and large gaps for “entertainment” value on the channel. Over they years I have moved towards better and more comfortable shaves which meant mild smooth yet efficient razors! I never us a 6S but I did use the 6C and it was a wonderful razor! So much so that I am actually thinking of investing in a 6S. If I do I will be able to give a more detailed review comparing both. That being said I would say the overlander feels similar to the 2 plate with the efficiency of the 4/5 and easily as smooth. Please bare in mind that my memory isn’t the best 😂

@@AnotherCutAbove Thanks for replying. I started out with the 6C and was so impressed that I purchased the 6S on Amazon Prime Day. Some have said the 6C is smoother than the 6S but I really couldn't tell any difference so I gave the 6C to my son-in-law. If you do get the 6S, I will be interested to hear your take when comparing them. BTW, I have seen better prices on eBay than the current $120 USD.

I just got the Feather AS-D2 which I'd been waiting for with great anticipation. Sigh. I'm a bit disappointed. It's a beautifully built razor but I just don't love the way it shaves like I do my brass Overlander at half the price (here in Canada, anyway). I must say that I prefer the look of the brass argyle patterned handle on the CB and I might order that handle down the road when I have the urge to make a completely frivolous purchase. But apart from that I can't compare the Overlander and the CB - - I've had no experience with the latter. But if I could do it again, I'd probably order the new stainless steel Overlander over the AS-D2. Great video, as always Chris! Thanks for doing these!
@snowliferwb
@snowliferwb Жыл бұрын
The feather AS-D2 I noticed works really well with feather and Kai blades. Also the more I used it the more I liked it. The thing I don't like about it, there is almost zero blade feel. But the shaves are actually very good, especially if your going for a 3 or 4 pass bbs shave with zero irritation. I think its a razor that is well made and great for a daily shaver, but not suitable for long growth. Great for body shaving, back of neck etc. I'm a straight razor shaver and I'm just really diving into DE razors but I have had my feather AS-D2 for about a year or so now.

Another top video, Cris. I don’t have the KCB - only the AL Overlander. I really want to like it, and have given it another couple of tries, but the “suction” or drag feeling makes it an average shaver from my point of view. Maybe I’m still applying too much pressure… Having said that, it’s much gentler on my skin than the AL Timeless (which has a tiny, but positive, blade gap). Maybe the issues arise because I’m a daily (or 2 days at most) shaver. Or maybe I’m just a twat. Cheers. 👍🪒
@AnotherCutAbove
@AnotherCutAbove 2 жыл бұрын
I totally get the daily shave feelings mate. The overlander aluminium is great for daily shaves as is the CB. But that’s just for me and maybe not for you. Both shaves smoothly and efficiently and over 3 passes get to the same place comfortably. Weird that the brass one has this suction feeling you describe.
@AnotherCutAbove
@AnotherCutAbove 2 жыл бұрын
I was kind of wondering if it would still have the suction feel if you had a very wet lather rather than a dry or dense lather. If you use a very wet lather obviously that answers my question 😆
@jmw3938
@jmw3938 2 жыл бұрын
@@AnotherCutAbove Good point. I tend to prefer lather on the rich and creamy side. I’ll try a more hydrated lather and see how I go. I suppose it’s sort of logical to expect there to be more drag if the lather is comparatively dense. We’ll see…
@AnotherCutAbove
@AnotherCutAbove 2 жыл бұрын
My thought process is that the razor is so precisely machined that with a very dense lather it would not allow any air to pass through with the lather between the blade and the safety bar. That could in turn create a vacuum effect that draws the razor in to the skin? It’s only my crazy mind working lol 😆 I would be interested to hear if a thinner wetter lather have you a different outcome.

@@AnotherCutAbove Just had a shave using the ALU Overlander. I hydrated the trucking spit out of the soap (Pannacrema Nuavia black, by the way, which is bloody good stuff) and… Bingo! The shave was smooth and effortless. What a difference! I mean, I had enough excess lather to last me a fortnight and had to wipe down the mirror and squeegee the bathroom floor afterwards, but you can’t have everything now, can you? So, thanks very much for your tip. It was a ripper! Cheers. 👍🪒

Yeah they do as do I as well, but the Gillette razor does it easier and I never have to touch up later. It also utilises a blade that would otherwise go to waste so I’m sort of using the full cartridge as well so I feel less bad 😂

@@AnotherCutAbove haha fair play mate. I swore a decade ago after finding out the markup for Gillette cartridges was around 4000% that I'd never buy them again and started wet shaving. I was going to save money, dammit! My razors alone are in the many thousands of dollars, and I have a full cupboard in the hallway stacked with soaps, splashes, balms and EdTs. I've had to move towels into my bedroom wardrobe. I've recently moved brushes to two different locations to accommodate them all. And I think I have blades to last all of us until the year 3000. Great video ! I think the Overlander is a FAR better shaver than the CB. The Overlander is a FAR better shaver than most razors. I have never felt a very safe and mild feeling razor with such high efficiency, it's truly hard to believe. I am also a head shaver, so very safe efficient shaves are important to me. My best head shavers are the Overlander and Henson razors. Both unique and incredible. Another razor I trust like the two previously mentioned is the Pearl Blaze. It shaves like the Overlander, feels almost exactly the same but not quite as efficient. However, the blaze is MUCH cheaper, and is just as safe for head shaves. Have you tried it or anyone else in the comments?
