I want to buy a used car. I looked at several sites, Kbb the amount they might have paid to purchase it. I also want put cash down and finance . So how much can I offer for the sale of car? Idk how much they paid, invoice amount. When I look at car, has original msrp from 2-4 years ago when it was new which is higher than asking price. Can I negotiate for extras? They say it is included in price but the car has 1600 detailing, doc fees at 699 etc. please help. I’m older female shopping alone. They see me coming

In 2022 I wanted a brand new 2022 car. I knew exactly what make and model I wanted, even the color. I did a lot of research and checking prices for sale from multiple dealers. I went to a couple dealers and told them I was just shopping and looking and would not be buying a car today to look at sticker prices, etc. I decided I would pay $30k cash out the door. Overall I contacted 6 dealers via email. Two of them said I would never get that car for that price. Another one said they would only deal with me if I came in and other wise wouldn't discuss it. Two others kept going back and forth with me on price and would not meet my price though one of them said they would do $31k. I held firm and said no, but thank you for letting me know. Finally one dealer said ok, they could do just what I wanted. I found out after I went in to do the deal this dealer was actually owned by one of the other dealers that kept trying to negotiate the price. At close out they presented me an invoice for $29,999. This process took about 10 days. I was always very courteous to everyone I spoke with or emailed and thanked them for their time and for contacting me. The three keys are Knowledge, Patience and Courtesy, it pays off.

The only comment I have is that I would not simply ask a sales person or their finance person if the loan agreement contained a pay out penalty. I would also read the agreement myself to determine this. If you rely on a verbal confirmation of no penalty and yet get dinged for one when you go to pay off the loan at the bank because there is a penalty written into the loan agreement, then the joke is on you.

ON the prepayment penalty could you do it in the reverse, like make 1 payment first then send in the lump sum to pay it off?

That is the part that I always hated. I wanted to be in and out of the dealership in 1 hour tops. It could have been done in 15-30 minutes but I had to listen to the finance person. Even when I said I was only interested in signing whatever paperwork and did not care about any warranties, gap insurance and or any add ons. Tomi is right about the finance person's mood changing from nice to condescending or rude sometimes when they are not able to seel you anything more. This recent purchase that I did, the monthly payment was about $33 more than what I computed. She insisted that it was what her calculator shows even when I already had done my computation before hand. I told her I was leaving and her tone changed and called the manager who magically solved it. The excuse was that the higher monthly was due to the way it was input in the computer to have us differed payments for 4 months. Sure! Lols.

So true about the Kia dealers. I've bought 3 Kia's from Kia dealers, first two took 7 hours each, the last one was better, but was still 4-5 hours.

I'm buying a new Toyota Rav4 hybrid. It's the best selling SUV in America and are in high demand. The demand is so high that they are sold before reaching the dealership. It's tough trying to get any type of deal. One problem with the Rav4 is that Toyota sells them loaded with options that are installed before the car reaches the dealership. These are options that you may not want but cannot remove. A type of forced upgrade.

It’s so unfortunate someone hasn’t figured out an Amazing Business !! Be a ( buyers aid), got everyone who needs a guy to go with them to buy a car, heck it could n😂 a computer or a new phone! Knowledge of a guy who’s there to look through a used car- maybe he has a garage with a lift, to take it to do a Pre Inspection?? You pay more for more help!! Bought a used car from a new car dealer. Brought cash. Paid less than their asking price, 35% lower. I hardballed my offer and told them to eat the tax title doc fees. My threat was i was gonna walk. And they wanted that sweet sweet cash

Told the dealer I was paying cash and I had a trade in. I said I know you have to make some money on it so I want 20% less than KBB and I offered 20% less than MSRP on the ride I wanted. They said no. I walked. 24 Days latter they gave me a call and asked if I was still looking and I said yes. They said come on in I think we can deal. I said OK. Got what I wanted for my used ride and 18% off sticker. I said OK. This was 9 years ago but my process is the same. I look at the dealership as a big vending machine, I put money into it and it spits me out a ride or I go somewhere else. All the other stuff is fluff. The only thing that matters to me is my bottom line. I would have paid more but did not need too. Also told them I was looking at 2 other rides as well.

I managed to get a $1000 trade-in deal for my POS Grand Marquis that was only worth about $700 specifically BECAUSE I cleaned and detailed the mess out of it first. That car gave me nothing but problems after 100k miles, and the guy trying to sell me on a new car thought he was going to get one over on me cuz I'm female, so I didn't/don't feel too bad about it. But yeah, what he's saying about detailing your car first is spot on. Just make sure you don't fall for the gloss and fancy car smell when you go looking for your replacement 🤌

Looked at a Mazda 3 2.5 Limited Edition 2022 this past weekend. Took it for a test ride. Today, the dealer phoned me and one of the questions was: how are you going to pay?. My answer was: mate, you should not ask me that question. It will make no difference, are you going to change the price if I tell you my method of payment?? I told him: if you insist on knowing my payment method, are you going to give me discount? He didn't answer. So eventually, I told him : ok mate I am paying cash. I then ask again: do I now get a discount? and he said no. So I told him: you just lost a potential client, thx and bye bye.

If a salesperson asks me what I want my payment to be, I answer with… I don’t want my payment to be longer then 48 months. They ask again about payment amount and I say no more than a hundred dollars. lol they looked shocked and I tell them to stop asking me stupid questions.
