ahhhh i remember them…i’ve always loved these machines…so fascinating…i watched one of these for about 10 mins back collecting rubbish at some car park!! brilliant video!!! as a kid i used to help you lads out collecting refuse around where i used to live…crikey i was a 9 year old too!! i loved it. it was when you used to pop a coupe of back bags through the letter box’s of peoples houses!! no wheelie bins in sight!! we used to chuck anything in the back!!! lots of crunching 😃😃😃😃😃

I moved these paladins bins from 2002 to 2017 when they were replaced by Chamberlain bins, some old bins had on side 1983 to 1986

When I was small my city had a couple of these way back in the days before a lot of bulk waste was collected. This was a cool truck. The others they had were small Leach's. My friends and I followed them all over the hood every Thursday!

Seems like they were pretty well gone by the 70s. Leach still had the option on the 2R, but I never saw one.

Yes, it's a toy and was a cool and accurate one at that. Only thing better is the Bruder rearloaders today. I have always wondered if a modern servo motor could be adapted to this toy to slow down the packing action?

I used to watch paladin bins being emptied at my primary and secondary schools. Hating certain lessons, I used to dream about hiding inside the bins. Maybe even to be collected with the rubbish !

I remember seeing a Heil Colectomatic Packer like that in action when I was a kid growing up in State Island, NY! I believe I saw 1 on an old gas powered GMC8500 & 1 on a diesel powered IHC Loadstar back in the 70s. The neighborhood I lived in was very close to Fresh Kills landfill; 1 of the largest landfills in the world, stunk like crazy;((((
