The dude was treated like an object his entire existence and the one time the Government treated him as a person is when he did what he was made to do in American soil.

The tattoos on the men’s necks are common symbols of Neo-Nazis, and that one guy with the hot dog was wearing a brown shirt and tie, which was associated with the early paramilitary wing of the Nazi party. Hence the reason GI Robot seems uneasy even before the swastika flag is revealed.

There's something genuinely tragic when I really think about the photo montage near the end of G.I. Robot serving with Easy Company. You get those shots of him appearing happy while serving, then you get to the Victory Day celebration and he's still there dressed and ready for war. He has no other life to go back to because serving in WWII was the only life he was made for.

And the tragic montage of him in prison, he had no place beside war and had no desire besides wanting to have friends he could Kill Nazis with.

The point of CC i don't think is to rebuke that they are monsters. G.I. is a monster, one of war, he treats the killing of human beings as not only necessary, but is addicted to it, it's a purpose fulfillment for him. Whether the nazis deserve it is irrelevant to G.I. He's not moralizing, he's just doing what he's programmed to. He'll scan every crowd like a fuckin gestapo or commissar for his designed target. It's a sad reflection on ideology itself.

I think what really strikes me is that his flashbacks to WWII here aren’t about killing Nazis. It’s about joyful, relaxed moments and the downtime he had with his squad. When he was the most PART of something and truly belonged. Killing Nazis isn’t just his coding. In many ways, what sentience he gained associates it that joy and sense of belonging. You can tell by his language that it’s not just a task for him. He’s genuinely absorbed Easy Company’s disgust and grudges as well as the wartime us vs. them mentality. And he will always side with the values and bonds from the Company. It all calls back to how his one real desire is to kill Nazis with his brothers. In some ways, it’s heartbreaking because (of the backstories revealed so far) he’s one of the few members of the team who had somewhere they truly belonged but can never get back to.

But it's not GI Robot's fault, even if it has the intelligence to take actions, it's not a 100% conscious being and was created specifically with an environment, as such it's the fault of its creators for not reprogramming it to fit into society, after all it's a robot that was created with warlike intentions, it's basically a living weapon with a semi-conscious artificial mind, you can't just throw it out there to the world, GI Robot's lawyer must be really bad. The charge had to fall on the creator, the US military or at the very least on the owner of GI, suing and/or punishing GI is equivalent to judging and punishing a dog for theft instead of the owner who taught him to do that. I don't know if I made myself clear, but there must be some strange legal situation in GI's case, definitely the government or the scientist paid the juries because it is absurd.

So, pro-n@s! supporter buys an automated weapon used to kill said enemy back during the war. Instead of keeping it shelved he fixes it and decides to show off their pro-n@s! beliefs in front of it. Then, despite this character being treated as an item/tool/weapon....they...prosecute him?! Why is that so stupid i could see it actually happening irl if such a being existed? Not sentient enough to not be sold at auction but just enough to prosecute for actions.
@nurkadurka2 күн бұрын
I like that the scientist guy DID upgrade GI, even after interacting with him enough to know that GI was 1) literally hardwired to kill nazis on sight and 2) even with semi sentience, was happy and content with following that programing. Then just let GI be sent out into the general public, which with the American public, and GI's programing, would of course result in a GI murdering a ton of people. But those people are nazis. Fucking based scientist guy, fucking based
