It’s more of a delusion that GI could be persuaded to join them. The amount of emotional dissonance some neo Nazis can create in thinking themselves as “patriotic Americans” is truly astonishing. They don’t think GI would oppose them because they think he defends America and therefore would agree with their version of “defending America”. It’s possibly that they delusional also believed convincing GI, a public ally known opponent of the nazi party, to join their side could legitimize them in some way.

I was almost entirely watching the show for gi robot. Seeing him finally find a friend, a calm and peaceful life, only for that friend turn out to be a nazi? And that quiet “oh”, as he realized that his “friend”, and every person in that room, is already dead? A small moment of remorse before a small act of mercy, killing the one that took him in first so he has the least time to panic? And how afterwards he was once again forgotten about and left to rust for eternity, as the last soldier of a war that he doesn’t really know is over? And then he finally finds that war again, and friends to fight it with, for a few short moments of bliss, only to finally be destroyed himself? Fucking heartbreaking, god damn. Gi robot carried the show for me ngl. Don’t even know if I’m going to keep watching without him.

I think what really strikes me is that his flashbacks to WWII here aren’t about killing Nazis. It’s about joyful, relaxed moments and the downtime he had with his squad. When he was the most PART of something and truly belonged. Killing Nazis isn’t just his coding. In many ways, what sentience he gained associates it that joy and sense of belonging. You can tell by his language that it’s not just a task for him. He’s genuinely absorbed Easy Company’s disgust and grudges as well as the wartime us vs. them mentality. And he will always side with the values and bonds from the Company. It all calls back to how his one real desire is to kill Nazis with his brothers. In some ways, it’s heartbreaking because (of the backstories revealed so far) he’s one of the few members of the team who had somewhere they truly belonged but can never get back to.

There's something genuinely tragic when I really think about the photo montage near the end of G.I. Robot serving with Easy Company. You get those shots of him appearing happy while serving, then you get to the Victory Day celebration and he's still there dressed and ready for war. He has no other life to go back to because serving in WWII was the only life he was made for.

Where the hell does GI keep all those bullets? Judging from the sheer amount of empty casings, he must be completely hollow. (Also Waller apparently can't figure out how to unload him, since he was still able to shoot the Jenga tower in the holding cell.)

he is so Naive Imagine if someone convinced him Commandos are Nazi, he would try to kill them on spot Gunn wasn't lying *James Gunn on Creature Commandos: “I think it's the saddest thing I've ever written”* *Creature Commandos is kind of like Guardians without the sentimentality. The Guardians are all really good characters at their heart, and that just isn't necessarily the case with the creatures.”- James Gunn*

I think he does have some sense of military hierarchy. I don't think a random person could convince him the Commandos are nazis, but since Flag is a general he'll listen to what he says.
