1) It looks like you're playing a Blueridge guitar? I find them to have a beautiful tone. Really fine instruments. 2) You are one of very few guitarists I hear playing an extra note on the famous E chord riff. I hear it slightly differently: rather than E - E - AhB (hitting the open E twice before the A to B hammer-on) I hear E - AhB - E. That is hit the open E a second time AFTER the A/B hammer-on... In any case the riff varies a bit throughout the song...

Excellent lesson, thank you. But, with all due respect, I don't think you need to spend time showing how to play the chords. The image showing the chord is sufficient, as students should know the basic chords before learning a song.

i didnt know francis scott key played guitar , ok , i could have funny , but wasnt , thank you , hendrix used open strings , and i wasnt born then ok , but it sounded like jets drive bombing like a kamakazi guitar-play , but it was clear , the end had a mountainng resolution that , to me , leaves you suggesting what are we as a nation , deep , but my guitar teacher was a hippie , i spunged up hair bands from the 80s , we stand on the shouders of giants as they say :-o .

You show a person exactly what they need to do to play this song. I'm losing my mind wishing that I hadn't pawned my little electric guitar and amp. I want to try this SO badly! I know with practice I can absolutely play this! Unfortunately I won't be getting a new one any time soon. I just got bottom dentures, and am getting a new Cochlear Implant hearing device through insurance. I'd give "anything" to have kept that guitar. It was a cheap copy of some kind. I'll never know what it's like to own a "real" guitar. My brother Danny goes back over 40 years with Foghat Blue Oyster Cult and was a drummer with Mitch Ryder for 5 years. I almost picked up one of Bryan Bassett's guitars during a Foghat sound check. The former guitar tech couldn't play well at all. I told Danny that I should go for it. He was playing the drums after set up. He said "go for it." There wasn't that many people around at the time. But I chickened out. Bryan has been with Foghat for years. He was a former member of Wild Cherry "Play that funky music." Then he was with Molly Hatchet, and currently with Foghat. He's a hell of a nice guy. We just went to the Soaring Eagle Casino in Mt. Pleasant Michigan. Roger Earl original drummer with Foghat asked Danny to come to the show, and run lights for them. We stayed at the hotel there for the weekend. The best part was that everything was on the house. The hotel paid for the rooms, room service, everything accept alcohol. I'm not much of a drinker anymore, but what a weekend it was. Grand Funk was the headliner. I took some videos from the stage, and then during the show. It was a blast to have that experience again. There's no way to count how many shows I've been to over the years. I was fortunate to become good friends with Charlie Martin, original drummer with Bob Seger. Night Moves and Live Bullet! After the live bullet album, Charlie was hit by a cat and is paralyzed from the waist down. We talk all the time on Messenger. He invited me to come to his house and show him how to fly my drone. Then lunch. He gave me the money to buy the drone. Sorry about the long story, just watching your instructional video really inspired me to want to play again. It's been a few years. I just watched Hotel California two days ago. The best part is watching Don Felder and Joe Walsh playing together. It's one of my favorite videos! Thanks for the incredibly detailed lesson. I know that I would be playing that lead within a day or two. Best wishes from Marine City Michigan! Liked and subscribed.
