Is there anything you would add to this for an older, out of shape, overweight, hasn't worked out in nearly 10 years due to severe back problems & a wire around a kneecap from acl and kneecap reconstruction surgery.. gal? Who has a year till college try outs, & wants to try out and be a boss again? 😅😅😂

Please correct me if I’m wrong but the rotation of the ball would spin in the opposite direction if thrown underhand.

Nice video but the Evip BP rocket is "only" 450 compression. That and the 300 ball looked pretty beat up.
@SnapSoftballАй бұрын
Really? Blame Andrew - he told me they were 600 compression and I trusted him. The 300 balls haven't been hit - they're old, but they've lived their lives as throwing balls. Thanks for the correction, though - I'm frustrated I got that detail wrong.

Yes too important things stretch that shoulder back and take a few steps before you throw

Yeah when you grip it like that you get to push off the threads

And is it true taking that extra step before you throw gives you more momentum in the throw

Trying to find some help!!!! My kid plays on a very high level 12u team that travels all over playing the best competition in the country. My issue is her school coach told her she would be his starting varsity catcher this year as a 7th grader. The problem is he says no practice or tournaments with travel team from jan1-mid may. We have worked hard to get a travel team like we are a part of now with some of the top kids in the country all on 1 team. I do not wanna give that up for school ball now while she is in 7th grade but what do we do?? If he doesn’t budge she won’t be the varsity catcher and will play JV only. I don’t think my kid should be punished for being good enough to start as a 7th grader and forced to quit travel ball. Without high level travel ball we wouldn’t even be in this position!! Any help or advice is appreciated.
@SnapSoftballАй бұрын
I wouldn't let a varsity coach push my 7th grader off her travel teams at such a young age. Also crazy that their varsity team is so bad that a 7th grader would be the starter...
@IstandwithjasonАй бұрын
I would say is more an issue if she is just that good at 7th grade vs them being so bad. Our travel pitcher recorded her 110th strike out for her school as a 7th grader this last week and took them to a 2 seed in their state tournament. This travel team at 12u would beat most varsity teams. We have the best kids from 3 states.

Have you ever worked with someone who is left handed but plays right handed so their coordination is all off? That's me and I'm just struggling 😂 I CANNOT play left handed, it is terrible. Just curious if you have any tips there.

I made it for fastpitch players, but I'm glad slow pitch players like yourself are watching it as well. I've made more slow pitch-specific videos of late.

I thought that the drop back was bad, and I was trying to evade it, thanks. Do you have drills for getting precision in the throwing? I’m ss but got moved to second base in softball due to my bad throws

Why do some coaches teach that the wrist needs to be turned and the ball be facing behind them. I am not sure I understand why it is taught that way, because that would require the wrist to rotate the ball from behind to front and would could offset the throw if the release point is not right. if you start from the superman position and and go to the pitch position shouldn't the ball be facing the same direction as your shoulders/hips? because the motion of travel is forward so it seems logical that the ball should be facing the same directions as the shoulders/hips because when the rotation of the upper half happens the ball is facing the target.
@SnapSoftball2 ай бұрын
its a bad teach that has no real basis in fact. Your questioning of it is correct - players dont throw that way, and its not clear why coaches decided to teach the point-the-ball-backward thing.

Playing first, third and pitcher my whole life. Learning to throw a softball without it tailing or sailing was weird. Putting more fingers behind the ball was weird but helped instead of the usual two when I played baseball. Just gotta work on not closing my eyes when fielding haha

how old? Lefties generally go first base or outfield, but if it's 12U or younger I'd say just let her play wherever she can make the throw.

Every time I go three fingers on the laces, i ALWAYS limp wrist the throw. If I throw it like a baseball, I don't have that problem.
@SnapSoftball2 ай бұрын
adding a third finger would in no way cause you to "limp wrist" the throw. I think you have a mental block that is causing this.

for me right now my slump is in throwing. I threw everyday and had finally aquired the most accurate throws I have ever had. Then I started getting sharp pain in my back so I stopped throwing for a week or and a half or so. Now I throw so inaccurately. Is this a slump? It feels weird when I throw

This has been studied a lot and there’s really no evidence that holding the ball this way improves velocity. I played fast pitch softball for 8 years and had to quit as a sophomore and still received a couple D1 college offers. I do think finding a seam in any fashion helps with grip and therefore accuracy, but velocity comes down to form and strength. A good wrist snap helps a ton.
@SnapSoftball3 ай бұрын
can you link me to the studies you're referencing? thanks
@beezie25662 ай бұрын
This controls any run you'll get on the throw. I'm a lefty and play slowpitch. If I grip a 2 seam when I throw, it'll run 3 feet to the left when I throw from first to home. 4 seam grip has no run
