Thing I love about your videos are they are all celebratory. It’s like this joyous haven I can come to away from the elitism this genre often dishes up, where you’re just positive and balanced and most of the people in the comments sections are too.

So I just stumbled across this lesson again and have a comment. I used to play it just like this lesson. Seems we both played it the same way that Kirk did on his lesson... ... but thanks to the God that is the man that shot this footage of Hetfield I think we screwed the pooch on this one. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oXXFn5WHlNB_mq8 1:52 is the view we always wanted.

My stiff shoulder is thanking you for showing us that we can relax while playing. Thanks, Uncle! Quick weird question: In your years as a teacher, have you ever encountered of a player who turns the volume know down by mistake? I don't know how I end up lowering the volume all the time.

Tone in this video is absolutely NASTY. Love active pickups, they give off that scratchy bite

Great review. Can I ask what speakers/monitors your oxbox is connected to? Or are you just attenuating the amp via oxbox and still playing through a cab? Sorry I’m not well versed with digital setups , just an old school person who always play through amps and cabs.

I'm not really into Metallica, but I feel like I need to able to play their songs otherwise I won't be able to get to where I want to be which is like prog tech death stuff. Like I need to learn the "basics" first.
@BenEller8 сағат бұрын
You are on the right track with that thinking! I’ve always encouraged people to learn what their heroes learned; James didn’t learn his downpicking speed by writing Master of Puppets, he got it from Misfits, Ramones, and Black Flag songs! If you wanna learn someone’s skill set, learn where they learned it from. Get into it!

Can you do a video like this on marty freidman we want to know how he writes melodic solos every time

First 5 or 6 riffs I ever learned were Metallica. And that also explains why my own stuff is a-a-b structured.

How do you make your sound sound so crap for a Metallica video? Jeeez
@antonioalbares15 сағат бұрын
I think Metallica is a great band but overly hyped in many ways. Also consider this, it’s a band with solid 43 years of history but in reality only 7 of them were good. They just managed to create longevity. This is why all riffs discussed in This video belong to basically their first 3-4 albums.

This is a good one. Songwriting strategies are underrepresented in guitar instruction. That's good lookin' out, Stepson!

It's the pick hand that gives me trouble. Metallica's so easy on the tabs. Guess I'll try those ab stimulators on my arm.⚡

I’m ABSOLUTELY going to call my amp Rectumfire from now on. Edit: dammit Uncle Ben, you’re once again the only one playing a riff correctly, in this instance Eye of the Beholder. Can we have a lesson on the whole song?

Hey Uncle Ben, Always awesome to watch your video's. The thing about these amazing guitarplayer as Eddy is the fact they have there own brain and spirit. You can study there playing as hard as you can, but you never will have there magic ! Nowadays all guirarplayers sound the same, because they don't search have or seek there own magic. In the old days they were more real, because they figured it out themselfs. They used there magic, strenght and power ! Keep on Rocking, Ben !!!🤘

I know it isn’t your usual thing guitar wise, but are you good at finger picking and would you ever do lesson vids about that? Everybody teaches it differently, I think your talent for communication might prove useful for many guitar players.

Awesome breakdown. I learned to play guitar on all of those riffs at age 13 and know them inside and out but this was still super fun and entertaining to watch because of YOU, Ben! I remember I saved up all my paper route money and went to our local music store and got these two epic books that were the COMPLETE works of Metallica (at the time) covering every single album from Kill "em All up to the Black album. I have always been a riff guy and so you can imagine I was in heaven! (while my parents were subsequently in hell while I practiced, haha)
