If you use Shatner's book/information you get only his viewpoint and he is very self centered and known to er "mistate" what actually occurred. Both Nimoy and Kelley refused to do the parts where their characters were supposed to fall under Sybock's charismatic spell for example. The next film goes back under Nimoy's creative control as executive producer this time having learned how difficult it was to direct and act in the same film during ST4 The Voyage Home. Nimoy came up with the plot points of Chernobyl and the fall of the Berlin Wall that had occurred in recent years but had others write and direct the film. Shatner's ego got in the way is my diagnosis.

My dear departed distant cousin the late actor Dudley Moore was in the role of Patch the elf in the movie. Therefore, it’s a true classic among Christmas movies, and ranks up there with other Christmas movie classics such as the following titles: 1. “A CHRISTMAS STORY” 2. “BEN-HUR” 3. “KING OF KINGS” 4. “NATIONAL LAMPOON’S CHRISTMAS VACATION” 5. “THE GREATEST STORY EVER TOLD” 6. “SANTA CLAUS CONQUERS THE MARTIANS” 7. “A CHRISTMAS CAROL” (1938 with Reginald Owen) 8. “THE SMALL ONE” 9. “MR. MAGOO’S CHRISTMAS CAROL” 10. “THE CHRISTMAS THAT ALMOST WASN’T” 11. “MICKEY’S CHRISTMAS CAROL” 12. “ONE MAGIC CHRISTMAS” 13. “THE BISHOP’S WIFE” 14. “PRANCER” 15. “COME TO THE STABLE” 16. “WHITE CHRISTMAS” 17. “THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS” 18. “GREMLINS” 19. “A CHRISTMAS STORY CHRISTMAS” 20. “A CHRISTMAS STORY 2” 21. “SCROOGED” 22. “SCROOGE” (1913, 1935, and 1951 as well as 1970) 23. “MA & PA KETTLE AT HOME” 24. “MALICE IN THE PALACE” (3 Stooges short from 1947) 25. “MICKEY’S ORPHANS” (1931 animated Disney short) 26. “MICKEY’S GOOD DEED” (1932 animated Disney short) 27. “SANTA’S WORKSHOP” (1932 Disney Silly Symphony) 28. “THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS” (1933 Disney Silly Symphony) 29. “CHRISTMAS WITH THE KRANKS” 30. “A MUPPETS CHRISTMAS CAROL” 31. “DECK THE HALLS”. And that just about sums it up for me.

I enjoyed The Mummy and The Mummy Returns with Brenden Frazier. They were fun and easy to watch. The 3rd film wasn't awful but watching it a second time would've been a chore. I would rather have my eyes plucked out, than watch The Mummy with Tom Cruise again.

@@MelodyBurt Ah, I understand. Sometimes we review films that the one or the other host hasn't watched before as the unfamiliarity with a series can bring a new perspective (they're looking at a sequel completely free of baggage). I'm the co-host that has seen the first Basic Instinct and I wanted to review this sequel with Andy because he wouldn't be making that hard comparison to the first film. I was curious whether he would reach the same conclusions as myself (which he did... this sequel is a hard film to like under any conditions). But hey, I'm glad you liked the episode regardless! And Merry Christmas to you and yours!

When my mum saw this film at the cinema when it first came out she had just found out, or was just about to find out that she was pregnant with me, I think that's partly why she loves it so much, best Christmas film ever for us!🎅🎅🎅🎄🎄🎄

Aw, you know what, no criticism really counts when you've got such sentimental investment in a film. I love that any film can do this to us and it's clear this one has a lot of fans. It's also my Mother's favourite film and despite my criticisms in the video I actually had a fun time watching it with my kids.

Christopher Lee played The Mummy in the first Hammer Horror version, I do remember seeing the Kharloff version on TV when I was a kid too. Really liked the first Brendan Fraser Mummy but the Tom Cruise version is just an epic fail. I don't even remember the prologues, different time zones or even the fact that Russel Crowe was in the film 😆 I'm shocked Tom Cruise agreed to the part because it just comes across as a lazy Indiana Jones rip-off... I am still watching the review and keep having to add, like Russel Crowe was Jekyll/Hyde, I completely missed that 😆😆😆 starting to think I slept through half the film. Says it all really.

Hahaha 😆 really?!? I actually enjoyed this movie 😯 tho I WAS surprised, considering: 1. I usually prefer hardcore horror - I only watched it by accident, &; 2. I CAN'T STAND Tom Bloody Cruise (or any A Lister, for that matter). But I didn't overthink it, just went with the story flow & found that I liked the direction they went in. Obviously being a Winchester: I'm going to enjoy the concept of a monster universe complete with the monster hunters & academics tho 😁👍 P.S I'm an Aussie 🍻🇦🇺

To be honest, that can sometimes be the best way to watch these kinds of movies - when you just stumble upon them with no expectation or idea what you’re in store for. It might not have worked for us (though I do find the whole Universal Monster/ Dark Universe thing endlessly fascinating) but I would never seek to take away the enjoyment of it from others. For me there are some ideas here that I’d like to see given another chance - but maybe from the hands of a director with more experience in the horror genre. Thanks for watching and commenting!

This movie was amazing.. It could've used some better jokes, but they were okay. Diane Lane stole the show, she was so beautiful in this. "Throw down your weapons and prepare to be judged!" Well, I was drunk and hyped so I went and destroyed him lol.. It was a great night.

I also loved Armande Assante in this film. He was so emotional, and yet at times so cold.. "What's the meaning of life.. " "It ends..." Then when he was sad, talking with Dredd his heart was breaking feeling genuinely betrayed thinking that he was the good guy. Doing what he was created to do.

I worked at the movie theater when TFF was released. Does anyone remember the teaser poster for the film that read "Why are they putting seatbelts in theaters this summer" and the artwork was a classic cinema chair with a seatbelt and then the Title along the bottom. What in the hell was this about? Clearly marketing had not seen ANY of the film to think that it warranted a restraint due to an action packed romp. Still, I have a soft spot for TFF. I watch it MORE than TVH and TUC for some reason.
@popcorndigest8817 Жыл бұрын
I was too young at the time to remember the poster on the theatrical run BUT I have seen it in a few different places since. Has to be up there with the Alien 3 teaser trailer which (despite the fact I adore A3) also didn't deliver on its promise. Maybe Reign of Fire's aerial battle poster too!
@BronzeAgeBryon Жыл бұрын
@@popcorndigest8817 I also enjoy Alien 3 for what it was. And I actually have the seat belt poster in my collection from my days at the theater. TFF could have been so much more with a seasoned director and better budget. Here’s hoping Strange New Worlds can give Sybok more context in Trek canon.

They literally ran out of money. I remember the comic adaption that was produced off the script and came out before the movie. It was superior in a lot of ways and did feature the 10 rock monsters. Which made my trip to the cinema a disappointment. I was the guy going 'where are my rock monsters!' Its a shame the Clif face wasn't paid off in the end with Spocks Jet boots being critical to saving the day.

The film was crap, but the character moments save it. 'What does God need with a Starship' classic Jim just cutting through the noise. It would be cool if someone added a post credit scene with god sitting on the planet bored but he was in fact Q.
