Sorry, I should’ve shown the repair kit number. But they are cheap. If it was me, I would buy a couple of them, and bring the one back that doesn’t work. But if you get a price, Pfister rebuild kit, it will work! You can do it!

Returns should be floor level. If they are in the ceiling they will take the warm air out of the rooms. Heat rises
@KentSchneeveis
@KentSchneeveis Ай бұрын
Agreed. It doesn't seem right at all, but in this case the bedrooms and bathrooms were getting way too hot. While the LVRM, kitchen, and hallway were too cool. Adding the return air up high, in this case, allows the excessive warm air to help heat the rest of the house before returning to the furnace intake return located down low. The furnace is located between the kitchen and LVRM.

I have a slip on spout with no diverter. I am having water come out of the spout while the shower is running. If I just replace the regular spout with one with a diverter will this solve my leaking problem while running shower?

Hmmm... that 's a creative idea. However I think it'd be better to fix the diverter

The nylon rope sounds like a bad idea for folks in warm weather climates, from what I've heard. Even if the cotton rope doesn't last forever, neither does the nylon. And some folks use rope that's too small. Sounds like 1/4" is usually the right size.

I'm just curious why you didn't choose to mount to the studs directly with screws. Maybe I missed something.
@KentSchneeveis
@KentSchneeveis Ай бұрын
With any job, the existing constraints of where the drain is located, and water supply is located, will dictate the location of the unit. So you kind of have to work with what you got. Of course it’s great to hit some studs. I was lucky enough to find three or four that did work. But I was not willing to open all the sheetrock and put in a bunch of blocking for this unit. Nonetheless, this is a rock, solid mount, and people to this day are still enjoying it. I’m talking an entire yoga class, giving this thing hell, and it’s still holding up just fine.

I have a rental property shower that has similar vintage tiles like the upper yellow ones. Cracks everywhere seem to be causing major leaks into basement below. Does it make sense to try & remove old grout and regrout? The grout lines are TINY. Like 1/32". If so, how would one remove the grout? Smallest tools seem to be 1/16" wide. I have an oscillating multifunctional power tool.
@guitarfixx4652
@guitarfixx4652 4 ай бұрын
I have an oscillating tool. I have one toothless blade, very thin, like a flexible putty, knife. If it was me, I would hacksaw some notches into it and try that. Then I would use an unscented epoxy grout that does not need to be sealed. or better yet, the grout renewal companies do a good job and are surprisingly affordable many of them. I would try that.
@shamelesschic9491
@shamelesschic9491 4 ай бұрын
@@guitarfixx4652 Thanks for replying! At your great suggestion, I just talked to a grout cleaning/sealing company. Guy says the "waterproofing sounds compromised" and that mere grout renewal prob won't last more than a few months (then leak again). Gonna see what a tub & tle REFINISHING company thinks tomorrow; they essentially make all old things white and fresh, per website pics. Grout guy thinks that might last a year before leaking again. Sigh, might not be able to avoid a complete shower demo / rebuild.

I have seen a lot of register boxes with the fiberglass inside. The boot in this video had no insulation inside. What is the difference between the register boxes with insulation inside them and the boxes with only the metal? My register box has the fiberglass inside of the box and it got a little moldy. Thanks
@santosecheverria6672
@santosecheverria6672 5 ай бұрын
You might want to get rid of those fiberglass boots that you have and highly recommend you replacing them with the boots that’s shown on the video. They are more efficient and the diameter of the boot where the duct connects to will give you more airflow instead of the fiberglass boots. I’m sure you have a small collar on them as well as a small duct because you can only go so big with those fiberglass boots. Also if you do get those metal boxes all you gotta do is wrap them around with an extra layer of insulation to prevent any condensation. 👍🏽

I am not sure what I must have done wrong because this did not work for me. I was trying to fill butt joints where the two pieces of redwood siding meet on a long run. The gap is too wide to just leave it open and I used this exact product two months ago. Yesterday I was walking around the house and noticed that every butt joint has popped open on the south side of the house popping open the caulk and paint and I am not yet finished with the house. It just feels devastating at this point to have put so much of myself into this job only to find I must now return to the beginning and see what I can do to salvage all my time, work and money. I painted this house 18 years ago with my mother, after my father died and this year I am doing it alone and at 72 I am sure it will be the last time I paint it, but I would really like to do it correctly. Also, has anyone else encountered problems with ants invading their redwood homes? They seem to live in the walls and drive you crazy! Any advice would be appreciated!

Good installation. A couple of observations Flex gas line to adapter does not need tape and dope. It’s a compression fitting and seals on the cone rather than the threads. The risk of using dope is to go on the sealing surface and then you will have a leak. Personally I am always using new adapters to ensure no leakages. Also the drain pipe attached to the PRV does not need tape/ dope. It’s just a drain. Nothing to seal there. Thanks for sharing the installation video.

Please help When I turn the shower on all water is divertered to the shower with no leaks at all. The problem is when I switch it back to only water coming from the faucet my water pressure decreases. If I unscrew it (back it out of the pipe some) the pressure increases. At that point when I turn the shower on again the water still diverts but I have a small leak coming from the faucet.
