Seems that modern emergency services, FDs and PDs, all eventually get ruled by lesser men. Usually those who start out the same, but decide to promote away from danger. Most police chiefs, commissioners, and administrators fill that bill.

I know it's a TV show, but I think this is a prime example of standing your ground and not apologizing when you haven't done anything wrong. People these days are too concerned about hurting anyone's feelings.

I know it's just a programme , but in real life, i hate arse kissing pen pushing pricks who take orders from chicken shit officials who are too scared to do the job themselves. And these pricks always say, "I'm just doing as I'm told." Well, if that's your excuse, then you are just as gutless as those pricks you work for.

'Rescue Me' still sits in my top three TV series of all time. What they got absolutely spot on was the team ethic of a bunch of tough guys working together. No other program EVER came close to recreating that.

I get backing up your people is a good thing but the idea that because someone does a dangerous job and save lives they have the right to behave any way they want is wrong. It is the type of manipulation Hollywood uses to get folks to be loyal in a wrong way.

On NYPD most of our bosses get their nuts cut off when they make Sgt. , then as they go up the rank their dicks, then their souls. Most bosses in NYPD now would give up their men in a heartbeat. No loyalty, no honor.

I couldn't fathom what it would be like if just one of my guys in the Firehouse didn't come back with us from a run let alone 5 of them. I'm just the lowly EMT on the ambulance and I've had to transport a couple Firefighters over the years. It takes balls to go into a fire. Heroes all of them. I tried for it but claustrophobia and SCBAs don't go together well. Lol

That's called being a good boss when you have a good crew. It's something most bosses wouldn't do. Most bosses are too worried about their own selves to act like this.

Ive never been a fireman before but when I lived in the Denver metro area in the late 80s and early 90s I drove an office furniture and supply route. I had working knowledge of 3 furniture and bulk supply routes and 3 regular supply routes. The Transportation Supervisor ALWAYS had his drivers' backs. He said just do your job the best you can, dont damage anyones property OR our trucks and equipment, but mainly ALWAYS be 100 % honest with me and I'll always have your back and I hope you'll have mine. He was awarded Supervisor of the Year at the company Christmas party in 1990 and I was always ready willing and able to give 110% for him every day because he always did it for each of his 13 or 14 supply route and 5 or 6 furniture route drivers. One of the BEST supervisors I ever had and Ive worked from the 8th grade to age 62. Back then the company was called Corporate Express and the supervisor was Mark Brinklow. Thanks, Boss. DRB P.S. In 1990 I also became friends with Mark's younger brother, Michael. It was when I was also going through a divorce and Mike told his big brother that because of that I was going to be alone on that Thanksgiving. Mark told Mike that if I wasnt at his house on Thanksgiving not only would he kick my ass, he'd put me on the worst delivery route he could dream up. I loved my boss and his family and miss em all.

See if you can find a show called The Job. It was Leary's show about NYPD detectives with a lot of the same co-stars. It was hilarious but too raunchy for ABC so they cancelled it after about a season.

@@exlimey1417 That was a good show. Few actors also seen in Rescue Me, like Laura, Tommy's Uncle Teddy, Chief Needles. And I think I remember one bicycle cop, who was the one in Rescue Me, who had this weird fixation on Mike.
