Good video, ive found that if your in a big city like Beijing no one bothers you, but when we go to my wife's hometown 2hr 30 away from Beijing then people stop and ask us all sorts of questions, like, where am i from, to what's wrong with my wife? Why didn't she chose a Chinese man. To people just coming up and touching me or taking a selfie with me without asking me first. Good news the sound is perfect today!😊

Any sane government will step in to stop such backward practice. However, it may be more important to teach young children proper family value. A lot more useful than complicated math, literature, etc.

very strange for a communist country talking and sticking to feudal practices that should have been outlawed long ago together with other superstitions. Getting rid of the 'bride price' or 'dowry' is only the tip of the ice berg in helping the country to prosper with more marriages and children. The decline in China is likely to continue for many years, even if such 'unhealthy' practices are stopped.
@ronanrim891328 күн бұрын
Your pronunciation is very good and there are no problems with grammar. However, like many native Chinese speakers, you lack fluency and coherence. You tend to speak in separate, isolated words, which creates a serious problem - it becomes difficult and uncomfortable for us to follow your speech.I know some highly qualified Chinese professionals who were turned down for jobs specifically because of this, even though their technical skills were excellent. The additional challenge is that English speakers typically won't point out these issues in your speech. If no one mentions the problem, it’s hard to address and solve it.

🤣🤣🤣 my Chinese wife did the same, she checked our star signs and Chinese birth year signs, and told me we are not a good match in either! And for some reason she still agreed to marry me! Well 14 years later and im still reminding her that the star signs are a load of bullshit!😊

I once searched for bus-related information on the Internet, and I read that on the bus, people should eat foods on the bus that wouldn't have strong smells. So, stuff like garlic and onions would be bad on the bus. Everyone would know when a person had eaten garlic or onions because that person would have garlic breath or onion breath. There was one Korean-American KZbinr who grew up mostly in Korea but went to America during her teen years, and she admitted that kimchi stunk. Her mother was also mindful of that, and so the mom would wrap the kimchi in layers and layers of wrapping and the daughter had to uncover all the layers of wrapping to get to the kimchi that her mom sent her. And she would do this when she became a parent of a daughter. She was the one working as a dentist in real life, before she became a full-time KZbinr. The Korean Vegan KZbinr doesn't like her mother's own reaction to white people who say kimchi is stinky, because she views her mother's reaction as submissiveness. From her point of view, she is not apologizing for the stinkiness, and people have to deal with it. She is the woman who works as a lawyer in real life and KZbinr by night. I think Asians in general are more mindful of others because they grow up in a collectivist society, and in the society, it is important to be mindful of others and be aware of others. Asian Americans tend to grow up in a more individualist society so it is more important to stand up for individual traits and ideas and thoughts, even if it means to offend others. Break the harmony and conformity and all that.

i agree with you the parents should be more mindful and think about others, give the kid smelly food at home an less smelly when eating in public.
@gomer2813Ай бұрын
I’d like to give a third perspective. My perspective is that the complaints from those kids about the food are probably not *serious*. In the American culture, and to a lesser extent other western cultures, there is a tendency for people to make a big fuss about things, bc people think it is funny or entertaining. Or….something like that…. In truth, white people like Asian food (we like all cuisines). We like stinky foods, too. I do not like this over-expressiveness and over-emotionality. And I do not like the sarcasm and ribbing that is so common in our culture. I think it causes people to become anxious (this is a perfect example). However, sometimes, if you can learn that this ribbing is not a *serious* thing, you will be free to not be offended when white people say these things. The problem is that sometimes the ribbing *is* serious….so you can never know. You can only know if somebody tells you, directly, when it is serious or not. Like I am doing now. Which is rather awkward….so people often do not do it…

Why would any man pay for a bride? That is not marriage no matter what the customs are.
@Ghosted760Ай бұрын
As a grown man from the U.S. I find the "bride price" to be financially backwards, and somewhat distasteful. I say financially backwards because in western culture a "dowry" was presented by the bride's family to the groom and his family... the reason being that after marriage the groom would be financially responsible for taking care of the bride and any children for the rest of their lives. I say distasteful because at amounts like 200,000 RMB or higher... I feel like I'm either "buying" the bride, or bribing her parents. I make over 30,000 RMB per month, but the bride prices that some women are asking for just seems like highway robbery.
@AmysAngleАй бұрын
My husband said so , In UK the bride pays a ''dowry '' . In China , long time ago , the bride pays a dowry , the groom provide a ''bride price '' , both are just for the new family . Nowadays its totally changed . Lots of girls 's families would like to get lots from the groom . so lots of men do not want to could not to get married .
@BobWing-x1mАй бұрын
@AmysAngle I paid no dowry, but my wedding and 1 month honeymoon cost less than $10K USD or about $75K RMB. I now average about $50K RMB/ month and the wife $32K RMB. Both houses paid off.

And another time a old women stopped us in winter time and my wife was wearing a big padded winter jacket, the women told her well done for being pregnant with a mix baby, when she said no she was not, the women said good, send him home and find a good Chinese boy!

It is unfortunate the cultural revolution and now the CCP have destroyed the great Chinese tradition before the 1960's. Most of the older generation who came to America are very honorable and respectful. They learned and follow the rules. Maybe you can leave and move to another country someday.

Its funny my wife and her friends all used to be I phone or Samsung girls, which ever one released a new model or bigger screen they had to have it. Now my wife is thinking of getting a new Samsung and all her friends now have changed to chinese brands and are telling her to get one to support the country, but she is like you we both have Samsung she is used to it and only taking one charging lead when away from home is better.

Good video Amy, I found it interesting at the end where you say you do you best not to break the rules, i think more women in China, care about the rule than men, my wife hates when we are walking down the street an i see a gap in the traffic and will cross the road, and she always moans at me that we should wait and go to cross at the traffic lights. Her and her sister and there girl friends are all careful about not rule breaking where as there husbands/boyfriends dont mind breaking the rules. Of course its a generalisation and there will be women who dont care and men that do care
@AmysAngleАй бұрын
yes , with a high possibility , men break or do not care the rules or laws more than women . and we have lots of cameras on the big crossroad to catch the people and show their ID information on the big screen ...even this can not stop some people .Maybe low self-esteem and no principle are the main reasons . so My husband says , staying at home is a happy thing , he does not need to see or feel something ......he does not like and could not change .

Not all men can marry, so allowing polygyny for rich men is one of the solutions, or 4 employees women for example friends or cousins or neighbors give an offer of marriage to an employee man (living together in one house and costs are divided equally) or export more men and import more women to the country not by force of course, but through scholarships, student exchange programs, job offers and investment opportunities.
