The problem with Persona 4 is that they believe the whole "groomer" thing. Its ultimate ethos is about the damage that sexualizing minors does not just to them but to the entire culture surrounding them, which is certainly laudable in and of itself, but where it becomes problematic is that it runs with the assumption that any kind of affirmation for queer youth is inherently sexualizing. Chie and Kanji questioning their sexuality and Naoto questioning her(?) gender are treated as part of the exact same phenomenon not only as Yukiko's parents' well meaning but misguided desire for her to marry as soon as possible but for Rise being treated as a piece of meat by the entertainment industry rape machine.

I HAVE A THEORY ABOUT WHY IT IS JOHN MARTIN AND JERGAN INSIDE OF FREDDIE - Since the powers were transported into another world, they all had to be transported - Gerry compares the fears to colors. The colors bleed and fade into one another. - You cannot just take one fear, so logically only the people who have been toutched or marked by all 12 fears were transported with them. - The only people in the series who meet these conditions are: John, Martin, and Leightner - John: obviously the easiest, Elias litterally spells it out for us, he was marked by each of the 12 fears carefully puppeted by Elias - Martin: as John and martin traverse through the fear landscape, john says over and over again that they need to experience the fear and travel though the hellscapes rather than just walking around. These are the conditions that need to be met in order to reach the penoptacon - Leightner: Jergan Leightner was constantly involved in all sorts of powers, amassing and using almost 1000 books. These books were easily enough to make a mark on him from all 12 powers, especially when he was fleeing the house with rooms full of such power I think the fact that all of these characters have been marked or at the very least “touched” by each of the 12 powers. I also think that It helped that they were all dead when the powers changed dimensions. This leaves their mind/consciousness to go to whatever evil computer that they are currently trapped in. It is also worth mentioning that all of these characters died within the premises of the Magnus institute and that may have effected their transformation There are a few exceptions and other characters that seem to fit into these categories Mikael Celasa - he was an assistant of Jergan Leightner who later traded with all sorts of fear related objects, if these were enough to mark him, and (if Annabel is to be trusted), he is dead. But another similarity is that all of these people died while on the premises of the Magnus institute. This (considering the fact that the penoptacon was the center of the new world) May serve as a sort of gateway to the new dimension. Gertrude Robinson - If my earlier assumption is correct and you have to die inside the Magnus institute then she meets that requirement. However, Gertrude was working against Elias in her later years and probably would’ve made DAMN sure that she was never marked by all of the powers. Otherwise Elias would’ve just used her to carry out his plan. I am also not fully convinced that she is out of the picture, I think that she may have taken some sort of precaution or safety measure over herself and Gerard, so she may be involved, but not stupid enough to get trapped inside a machine. Elias Bouchard/Jonah Magnus - He most certainly died within archive property and one could say that all the powers touched him when he became the pupil of the eye, but at that point, I think it may have been too late for him as a human being. And before that, he experienced them through the eye, I dont think it counts as a mark This theory definatley has flaws, but i do see the relation. (I also joined very late so my knowledge of the ARG and other theorizing is very minimal)

I think the problem with the rep in P2IS isn't that the characters aren't paragons of morality - it's rather that those are the only main characters to go off of for... pretty much the whole franchise? Like, Ana and Jun are amazing characters - I absolutely love them! But if the only way you can write a decent queer character is with the one archetype - it becomes a problem. It absolutely works and it personally resonates with me, but there needs to be other characters too within the franchise.

the 3rd life fanon is amazing !!! :D it’s basically the beholding, where the viewers are the watchers who are entities that feed on the emotions of the players, but once the server began and after grian accidentally killed scar they realized that their favorite emotions are fear, betrayal and death :D !! and after that they basically stole the server away from him and made a fun collaborative server into a death game ! fun fact: as grian is the creator he is also a watcher, so he also indirectly profits off fear. it’s really fun and there is a lot more in depth lore the more seasons there are!! sorry for info dumping but I love the life series sm :3

I think the Spiders plan didnt quite work in the way it imagined, rather then just dumping the powers outside reality it also caused a shit ton more breaks into said reality to appear, hence why we see people moving between them away from hilltop. Rather then break the lock they blew the doors off.

I interpreted isaac newton giving the fruit of knowledge to the dog as him turning it into an avatar in a way. That would mean that the magnus institutes experiments would relate to turning people into avatars. I think the capacity to become an agent is for those who became an avatr through other means, like ink5oul, and becoming a catalyst is them putting you through whatever happened to the dog with the apple. Also, Ive noticed whatever [ERROR] is, I dont think its bad. Every time that we’ve seen it get a statement from somebody, its either been a corpse, or the time with Gwen where it let her live. My theory is that the corpses had already been dead, and it just fed on the fear they had when they died and of what killed them. Since [ERROR] came from the archivists office in the institute, I think its definitely a previous archivist. Also, I completely forgot until recently that the tapes from tma arent from the eye, they were from the web. We also know that annabel specifically planned to escape to another dimension after tma and spread more fear, so maybe she is still manipulating things from the shadows. I dont think Freddy is necessarily bad either, but he definitely has some goal, something that he wants the employees at OIAR to do. Especially due to episode 22, I think its somehow Jon, Martin, and Jonah from tma inside freddy, which could mean that maybe they have several different goals.

Web!Martin feels like something that could have happened if things happened slightly different and he was pushed towards the web rather than the lonely. His manipulative behaviour is a trama response but everything he did to become lonely allined kinda felt like a trama response too. In saying that, I think if martin was going to be truly web allined he would have been happy about the fact everyone underestimates him. Way easier to manipulate people if everyone thinks you're incapable of thinking up schemes youself and you're just doing everything your partner wants you to do.
