Love this...I'm starting to rent a place that has one sink and I need two....the house was builit in 1887. So how do I do this to keep the PSI the same to make a duble vanity for a couple?
@averagejoesjimshomeprojects
@averagejoesjimshomeprojects 6 күн бұрын
That’s a good question. If you go the route I did by splitting the main line coming in, as long as you use one sink at a time, most likely your psi will not change. If you use both at the same time, your psi will likely change to be lower.

My water pressure didn’t really have a noticeable change after adding the second sink. No guarantees though, probably will depend on what pressure you start with.

So, seeing in this video how much extra cord that they actually give for this umbrella, I decided to start by checking the top end of the umbrella to see if the cord was still accessible there - and yes it was! At the very top, over the pulley, I could see the cord still there. So I turned the crank and loosened the cord more to allow me to pull the cord out further to push more of it into the end. I had to fish it back through the end cap (as I had to glue it in place a while ago because it kept slipping off and that's how the cord got abraded in the first place). I just used a crochet hook - worked like a charm. Then all I needed to do was pop the button off, remove the broken piece and replace it with the end of the remaining cord. Thank you so much for this video!! And for showing all your mistakes - it really helped me figure out the easiest way to fix this. You're awesome!

@@averagejoesjimshomeprojects I have to thank you again! My cord broke in the crank case this time. So all your extra work helped me with that end too! I got new cord and fished it through using the existing cord. My crank case was a little different as it required that I take the crank mechanism completely apart. It was a stack of various shaped washers and such that went over a split bolt. I just laid the pieces out in the order I took them off to make sure I put them back on in the right order. I had a little trouble getting the crank to fully open the umbrella after installing the new cord. It felt like it was getting stuck on something. So I kept the crank case open and pulled on the cord manually out of the crank case until it opened the umbrella, then cranked up the slack, Now it opens and closes without issue.

Oh no! I’m not sure if you can get one of those. I think your only hope is to co tact the manufacturer of your umbrella and see if they can send you a replacement. Splitting the drain I totally understand. But is there any reason to split the water inlet line ? I’m thinking of just using a tee off the cold and hot water inlet like to split the feed to both sinks….
@averagejoesjimshomeprojects
@averagejoesjimshomeprojects 8 ай бұрын
That is an option. However, just keep in mind if you do a tee off the existing lines outside the wall, that you’ll have to drill holes in every wall of the vanity on its way to the other sink to run the water lines. Not the end of the world, and I’ve seen people do it that way. I just figured, I had to remove the drywall for the drain anyway, might as well run the water lines in the wall too. I appreciate the question and a great example of how there’s a ton of different ways to do a project like that. 👍🏻
