I’m enjoying going back and watching older episodes of your show. It’s great watching while swatching.

If I may, I would like to add something to your discussion about what makes a handspun yarn "round." Spinning using the worsted method, where the fleece is prepared so that all of the fibers are aligned in the same direction results in a drapey yarn that is not as round. However, spinning in the woolen method where more air is trapped in the fibers because they are not strictly aligned in one direction, gives more bounce, squish and roundness to the finished product.

Hi Andrea, so great to hear from you every end of the week! I'm working on my marbled nebula and using similar colors to yours, and I am so delighted by how it's turning out! I hadn't even thought of combining those two fibers, much less those two colors, so just want to thank you for the inspiration and joy 😊

Love the color of the nebula your wearing. If you said it in the video.... i missed it 😅. What colorway are you wearing? I have a horrible time picking wearable color. Or im just not confident in the colors i pick.

I have a curious question regarding the shifty question. I have knit them and they are mosaic, right? So using only one color at a time? The question asked was about using two handed colorwork and dominance. Have I missed something with the patterns all of this time?

I’m knitting Weekender from two different Handspun yarns to create a 4 ply. My swatch was so far off that for the first time in my life I’m knitting size 1! My goal is to knit this sweater completely during TDF.

I would like some advice. I can’t wear mohair or alpaca. I love these sweaters that are draped and slight fuzz. Is there any other fiber that I can get in a lace weight to add to my merino DK or sport weight yarns?

You gave me an idea! I’m doing stash dashers too and was already going to spin up my Spin a Flock from Brittany (Crux Fibres)…. but now I’m thinking I’m going to spin it for a natural coloured traveler shawl and join the spin it to knit it! 🎉

In regards to the Pink Fizz question: considering there is 10-12" of positive ease, you may find that it still fits fine and adjustments aren't necessary. I sew as well as knit and often need to grade between sizes. But sometimes the ease in a pattern is very forgiving and grading isn't always necessary.

On a pieced garment , a shawl or a scarf I like to start a new ball at the edge. When knitting in the round I just keep going until I run out of yarn. On a swester it would be nice if it was down a side, but not crucial.

Thanks for answering my question about where to start a new ball of wool/yarn on a project. I’m knitting a cardigan and just happen to almost run out of yarn right where the sleeves are going to be! So I’m quite happy about that 😊

Joining new yarn - edge if possible, if not a long splice mid row.

I usually join in a new yarn at the edge - it's often on a seam so much easier to weave it in very securely without affecting the look of the garment. If it's a very fluffy yarn I am a bit lazier. And if it's not superwash I usually spit splice it.

Just started watching your videos. Although I did a lot of knitting in my earlier years, I've recently picked it up again. I am currently knitting your Melt shawl. I love the shawl - especially the brioche which has been a bit challenging but so fun. I was wondering if you have some suggestions of how to best weave in all the ends so that it doesn't take away from the look of the reverse side.

I am a maximalist with yarn and so I definitely join yarn where the yarn runs out, wherever that is. With a spit splice I never have to worry about dealing with the ends anyway! 😂

For the person struggling to get row gauge, drop shoulder with no armhole shaping would work. You can also do some quick maths to work out how long an instruction to knit 'x rows even' should be, by using the given row gauge, and then just knit to that length.
