I have watched a lot of colour analysis videos on KZbin and they are kind of interesting and fun to watch and see all the different colours, but what I can't get behind is that it's all based around what colours flatter your complexion to make you look "better" in the eyes of other people, rather than being about what colours speak to your soul. There are some days when I want to wear a very minimalist and neutral palette, and others when I want to wear something super colourful, but it's always for me and how I'm feeling, not for what I think other people would like to see.

Wow, You both look like sisters. Then I noticed you both share the fondness for body art. Not to mention the shared love of fiber!!!!! Both accomplished in your passions so meant to be friends. A treat to hear the info about the plies of the yarn and how it affects the knitting styles! Spin Cycle yarn sweater in my bucket list at the top!!!!!!! My parents retired to Bellingham WA for 22 years and passed away in 2011. Bellingham was our destination every summer so my boys could spend time with their grandparents. I would take my knitting with me up there. Miss it!!!!!!! Thanks for sharing with the rest of us. Very enjoyable episode😃. Carrie- Just moved from SF Bay Area to Florence, OR. Love Pacific Northwest!!!!!!! 🥰❤🐕🐑☕🧵🪡🧶

I love the info I got from the color analysis…I am fair, strawberry blond, so orange, yellow, pink are out. It helps folks create a wardrobe that builds on itself. Let’s face it good yarn can be expensive and many folks like to choose wisely.

Love that you did this together, so fun! As for color experimentation, I think shawls are great for playing with wild colors, especially if you’re like me and you wear mostly black! A pop of wild color is a fun way to try it out and elevate neutral outfits.

Thanks so much for this😍 I'm learning to push my limits with color contrast: what looks good when you're holding the skeins side by side doesn't always translate on the needles. I used to think I couldn't wear green, yellow, or orange, but now I just adjust my blush accordingly!!

Lovely episode, ladies! Thank you! I love the colour draping discussion because I had mine done - purely incidentally - more years ago than I care to mention (eons;). Luckily I love my colour palette and to wear the best ones because I look way cuter in them. :D Truthfully though, to this day when I wear what they said was my best colour (I could definitely see the change in my face during the draping process) someone will almost always comment on how nicely it compliments my complexion. It happened twice (independently) just in the past year! :) I'm in a bit of a knitting slump right now (lots of yarn and patterns but no follow through... when I make a mistake I give up.)😢 But, I still look forward to watching your podcast, Andrea. ❤

Great episode with the two of you. I love colour and am knitting a second Night Shift. I love the colours I am using and wondered like the question 3 would it look good on me. Now I feel free to just pick colours I just love and now don't want to just pick what I think would look good. Next I am knitting what you are wearing. I just Love Frames Your Face. I just got the pattern yesterday. thanks again for your fun video

You both were an absolute joy to watch! Thank you so much. I ordered a kit from FDF for your "Frame Your Face" cowl and I cannot wait to cast it on. I love your sweater but it is so intimidating. Wheni saw your cowl I was just so excited. I have been wanting to try the yarn you recommend from spincycle and this will be so perfect. Thank you so much for what you do!!

GREAT episode! I've shied away from buying super colorful yarns the last couple of years, but that has been changing recently. Deep bronzy yellows have been calling my name the past few weeks...

I definitely have to choose colours by pricing. Here in NZ, the land of sheep and wool, buying yarn can be super expensive. I think lots of us covet say Spincycle yarn but just can’t afford the price’s. I now try to buy bulk wool when it’s on sale, but it doesn’t always equate to colours I love.

lol when you are talking about colours and your face I’m dying laughing. Black and White are not my friends. However, I love wearing black. There are days where black totally “washes me out”. In fact, my hubby would often check me out before I went to work. If it was a day where I shouldn’t be wearing black his comment was “Hunny, you are rocking your Cadaver look today”. That was the signal to go and change into something else. The other colour I can’t wear is a blue based purple. I happen to love that colour but it does not like me so I no longer purchase items in that colour. They just sit in the closet because I put them on and take them off as I don’t like the way I feel when I have it on. I actually have a sweater that is over 30 years old. It is a maroon colour that looks horrible on me but I love the colour so it sits in my closet and I admire it but don’t wear it

Light bulb moment - you casually mentioned "putting a bow" below the stitches you are putting on hold for the sleeve to lesson the chances of it pulling apart when you are fiddling with the rest of the body. Such a terrific idea to help with the gap when finishing the sleeves!

Regarding your colour blocked white and black pants … could you line them with a flesh coloured lining. White fabric is a tricky beast.

Your comment about russian joins is a big coincidence. I am re-reading Vogue Knitting book and just read the section on joining yarns that invlided the Russian join. I was intrigued by it. I have never had a magic knot come undone. I just bought clover stitch holders. It is a l o n g cable with a tiny needle at one end and a stopper at the other. The stopper end has needle sized hole that makes it work like a cocoa knit stitch stopper. They are fairly new, but loving them so far.

Kate is wonderful. I'd love to meet them someday at their store. I agree whole heartedly about colors and picking what makes you happy. The thing I don't care much for with the color analysis is most of the time the colors seem to be such a departure from everyone's favorite colors. That does make me bummed for them because the rest of the time- they're like I can't wear that... I think color analysis went out of style for good reason and it should again, haha! Wear what you love. Have fun camping gals!!!! All the best, Kimberly

Have fun camping! I love to knit by a campfire, but I worry about the smoky odor in the fiber. I would think it just disappears after a certain amount of time, and, blocking would also take it away.

Regarding the white pants - You could sew a pant-slip in a light white tricot or a cotton lawn. Should be comfortable, too. You may be able to buy them if you’d rather not sew them. At least coulotte version can be found at Vermont Country Store.

Andrea, if you want to sew black and white pants, what about trying flatlining the white parts? The added layer would give some opacity, and when you flatline, you work with the lining and main fabric as one piece, so you wouldn’t have to adapt the pattern.
