You may want to verbally explain how the melody notes are played. You show the tab and play the song slowly, but how one plays the bass and melody notes are not covered.

So if I play that barre power chore, does the same rule apply along the E string? Example, on 3rd fret it’s a G, 5th an A, 7th a B etc

I've know of these shapes and forms, but my only comment is why didn't you do complete drop D tuning so that you could show how Keith Richards gets his FAT sound on recordings from Sticky Fingers on? When I was younger playing Rolling Stone covers with conventional chord forms, I never understood why I didn't get that fat sound. Then a friend showed me his method. I took the E string off my telecaster and there it was!

I don’t know why some players rock back and forth. It does absolutely nothing

LOL! I have to laugh at all you YT guitar gurus who say, "when somebody hands you a guitar and says "play something". Who the **** does that! IF you are going somewhere there will be guitar players playing and you don't take a guitar of your own, is someone going to "hand you a guitar and say PLAY" if they have no idea you can play? And if they DON'T know you can play, what guitarist is going to offer HIS axe to a club-hand? And if they DO know you can play, even a little, and you didn't bring your own axe, they'll assume you aren't playing today. It's like DRUGS: IF you DON'T, JUST SAY NO! Lol! You guys are worth a good laugh, anyway. Thanks for the chuckle. I hope everyone learned a little something from you today. I enjoyed it. Good on ya!

It just dawned on me…there are great guitarists with degrees in classical guitar or such and they are horrible teachers. My teacher was the UCLA grad with great degree. Great Telecaster and fingerpicking player. I should stop here but this needs an explanation. I told him I wanted to learn a song. It was a 2:00 minute Chet Atkins song and in one hour he transcribed the whole song. I kept asking him for more songs because He wasn’t guiding me…not systematically. I’ve seen many KZbin teachers. This is unique. He has organized a nw way of “First things first. So you have a system here that should get you where all players want to be. We like other guitarists. We like their improv. Their solos. this is preparing you for improv. Oh…he’s wearing a Herco thump pick. I use them for flatpicking and fingerpicking. Good luck.

No dis' on Hurt intended, but that weird, abbreviated E7 chord is simplified by playing this barred figure 022434. Once learned, I find it easier to grab, even with the embellishments. Great lesson, by the way.

Thanks Heath. This is very relevant to a project I am working on right now. I have realized my Em Blues Pentatonic scale can sound very good or very bad. Today’s lesson is a great help to understand why the scale I am using has to be played differently.
