Another excellent one Elaine! I should've watched this before commenting on the last video. Of course you've had a borek from QVM. 😂 I think we went to Rice, Paper, Scissors when we first moved to Melbourne, and yeah, it was very good. I will go out on a limb here and say many of the coffees I've had in Melbourne have been underwhelming - especially from the big well known hipster places. They're weak and luke warm. So we just buy our own beans these days. Funnily enough the places overseas we've been to that have copied Melbourne coffee culture are making better coffee. Pity we have to spend thousands to get a good coffee. 😂 Lune croissants are very good but really overpriced. I learned to make croissants from KZbin and we really like them. But when we got hold of Kate's book and made her croissant recipe they went next level. I don't make them enough but I can make 8 or so croissants for a couple of bucks as opposed to 1 of Lune's for 8 bucks. 😂 Funnily enough the best croissants we've ever had were from the shop in Paris where Kate learned how to make croissants. They were 1 euro each. If you're going to Paris at any stage it is Du Pain et des Idées. Melbourne is a pretty cool town and you showcased it marvellously.

There are honestly so many hidden gems in the burbs too, hoping to do a video for those one day (my backlog is just ever growing lol)! Your kiddos are so blessed with 2 Master Chefs at home! If you open a croissant shop, I'd drop by to get a dozen! One of my bucket list items is to go to learn baking/cooking in France, I will probably stick with KZbin for now haa :D

Far out that was awesome. They were all really cheap but, sadly, even 20 bucks is too rich for us these days... unless we're travelling and then we splurge. 😂 When we first moved to Melbourne we wanted to try everything. Back in Sydney I reckon there wasn't a joint with a hat we hadn't been too. We were spoiled for choice. I think we had just about every cuisine available within walking distance of home. Not so much out here in the burbs of Melbourne. 🤣These days we try and make our favourites like fried chicken (US, Japanese or Vietnamese style - I just love fried chicken any way), or okonomiyaki or Chinese or even middle eastern. Which reminds me of Miznon. We have been there once and it was really good. A couple of the dishes inspired Michelle and she's done those as well. Those French crepes reminded me of Cafe Breizh in Paris. Best crepes ever. I think they have a shop in Tokyo too. Have you tried the borek at the QV Markets? Really cheap and really good. I've been meaning to try Soi 38 since they opened but never got around to it. Every time I parked there I think I will have to try it. These days it is just too busy. 😂 Some really excellent recommendations here. I would love to try them all. I suppose if we left the kids with their adult sized appetites at home it might be possible. 😂 Even a good ramen adds up when you times it by 4. I recommend Gomi Boys for ramen btw. 😁 Brilliant video!

haa thanks for dropping by Shane, always lovely to "see" you here! $20 ain't the cheapest kinda cheap, but if I get a decent intake of carbs, protein, and vegos from one meal, I'm happy :)! Sounds like Michelle is the up and coming Master Chef! Has she been on one :D? I love cooking too, but unfortunately I'm so time poor, my covid bread making days are long gone lol! Could you get your kids to eat some fruits and nuts before coming out for a feast? That should save some $$ from your wallet ;)?

I know many of these places and they are all fantastic!! The ones I didn't know, I will be sure to check out!!! Especially the Fitzroy ones (brusnwick st, fitzroy st, smith st).. It is a super hip and trendy, part of Melbourne I keep meaning to return to!! Your vid was super entertaining and you have a cute style!! Cheers!! :) Other places you might like for another vid.. Sth Melb market - Grazing - Borek/Paella/Dim Sims/Oysters and many more, Stalactites, Master Roll - Sth Yarra, Master Lanzhou Noodles, Seoul Toast (YUM), Niko's Sandwiches, A Treat of France (What you didn't know you needed!), many places along Victoria St, Richmond. If you start hitting the outer suburbs.. particularly the areas with a stronger asian influence like Springvale, Footscray, Box Hill.. gosh you can find some amazing food!!! Luv!! Almost forgot.. for a crazy desert.. Sulwha (korean shaved ice treat)!!!!

What an amazing video!! As a Viewer - I REALLY want to visit Melbourne now, I need to try that cafe and croissant shop. We started getting "fancy croissants" in Vancouver, so the most I've paid for a croissant was $6.50CAD which is apparently pretty much $7AUD LOL I love that there is so many artwork around the city, and you can cruise down the river in a boat. When you said you liked Fusion food, I was surprised because like you said "not many places do it well" 😂😂So I tend to stay away from them. Again, amazing video! Def using this video as a reference when I plan my trip :) As a KZbinr - Girl, you KILLED it. I can't imagine the work it took to make this video - the planning, the script, getting footage, the b-rolls, and you filmed by yourself in the day too! Good job! I love how you used still images and stock videos in certain scenes, and kept the video engaging throughout (I need to work on this) Great job, Elaine!! Hehehe

@@Curious_Nomster now there’s real pressure to deliver both a trip to Kyushu and some content as well lol - It’s kind of weird how this social media works. Mostly I do videos because I think it’s fun for me. And usually maybe 200-300 watches so it’s a really really small channel. But it takes a bit of time and planning (as you know) to fix a video - and then a video of our 1sr trip to Tokyo in 99 that might have been my fastest edit ever is by far the most watched. By far! Kind of weird. Anyways I’ll be following your KZbin channel and Insta account from now on! It looks fun!
