Bought my speed 400 and love love love it but 100% short gearing is annoying, basically driving around everywhere in 6th and still buzzing up to 6000 RPM at 55-60mph (USA). I AM over excited that you made this video and I hope it’s the fix I’ve been searching for. Thank you

You bodger! If you make the screen a closer fit to the headlight with your dremmel (I mean cold chisel of course😆) you may find the air bleed you currently have between high and low pressure areas at the front and rear of screen is removed and might cause more buffeting than currently. Just tape up the gap first and check, I know you will have loads of gaffer tape around to hold things together 🤣 A lot of modern screens have an air bleed slot built into them to address this.

Actually, super glue 😆. I had to cut the video short as the screen flew off like a high performance radio control glider 😆. Hit a sheep so no damage to the screen 😆 - ONLY JOKING 😆. thats a good idea, tape up the gap - i shall try that to see what happens 👍 I have shares in Gaffer - due to building bikes with tape 😆

I do have a follow up and have not released it yet Martin. The tent is great and I was in a real storm - an no leakage however, the rain made lots of noise as it would in any tent I guess. I was campoing for three nights. I used a double airbed which fills the ground so makes the whole floor of the 2/3 man tent really comfortable. Never done this before and it worked really well. Future use, I will be using the double airbed. The link to the bed is below 👍 www.amazon.co.uk/Pavillo-Airbed-Inflation-Outdoor-Double/dp/B00F0B5IV0/ref=sr_1_1?crid=15KF4A832370H&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.ldfrSuy1qVzOStiPFW_TlxfFGlUC1X2Xt15U5HlmmhSZmrnmFrY0jdzotWBrTk_JBlSjGp4dOQ5hsqK32iZ_DNVW0v4u7eqio_ibRJgarArovQaTu215M9Ctc-Exqm4Ga70pqKkny47mNkHVHMLxIjSSRAvf-2GMLh1ejYvwZ429KUtieO6M0d-UOzKeVZR5Da_QcwEx9QrD9wG1bs2cE6Rt4fvIllnsDA5Bx9mg_bU.3gYpWPe7C6dMA3KMt8SBzCH38VUWGnpWZw9nJAoJ0Yk&dib_tag=se&keywords=air%2Bbed%2Bdouble&nsdOptOutParam=true&qid=1728911180&s=instant-video&sprefix=air%2Bbed%2Bdouble%2Cinstant-video%2C67&sr=1-1&th=1

Interesting.....I fitted the same screen to my T120, to make it a little more comfortable over ......mph and to improve the CD.....nothing has a worse CD than a naked m/bike. However at 6'4" I shouldn't have been surprised, that everything goes straight onto shoulders and above...... However the bike may be grateful at not having to force a parachute of a torso through the air !! Can I ask about the deflector? From where or how much, or did I miss that? Thanks!!

Ah Laurie, you have 6 inches on me (boom boom 😆). The torso does act like a bit of a parachute to be fair 😆. OK, typical deflector. And now the review after your adjustments please. Does it remove the wind entirely from your upper body? Does it remove the wind entirely from your helmet? Does it increase or decrease the helmet wind noise? Does your helmet become more or less wind stable? I have a small Puig Universal screen on my SV650. It removes some wind load from my upper body without any negative influence on my helmet. How good are the bigger screens?
@lauriebloggs8391
@lauriebloggs8391 2 күн бұрын
Depends on your height? For me at 6'4" and basic screen without deflector..... 1/ no not entirely, but better than naked 2/ no, increases it 3/ same or a little more (helmet type may vary this?) 4// no change But you asked BP, not me, lol!!
@bankruptpensioner
@bankruptpensioner Күн бұрын
Will do, running behind schedule at the mo 😆. Wind from the upper body is removed 👍Further adjustment for the helmet but i guess i can achieve it. Another 4 inches higher and the wind will go over the helmet.👍 Noise is definetly reduced. 👍Stability - unusually, this screen dows not generate turbulace where buffet is all the time. What it does do is funnel the air up (stable air) to the helmet so no buffeting - which is good, but more adjustment may well remove this funnelled air to the top of the helmet. 👍. For £78, it appears to be doing a good job thus far 😆

Hello, to remove the waste I do not use anything because the motorcycle is new 0 miles, but to remove that after use, the magic solution is to use SONAX Paint Preparer, you use this as long as the surface to be treated is with a layer of enamel, you can use it on plastics but try before, you can mark the plastic. Greetings from Peru.

Thinking of going for a screen for my Speedmaster but will go for the genuine item even though I don't like the way Triumph have designed the mounting clamps as you either need to drop the fork legs or remove the top yolk. Shame they couldn't design a clamp that can be fitted without all that work...what's wrong with them or are they looking for work for their dealerships? Thanks for the video Richard.

We always have to buy what we are happy with. My point is testing alternates and trying to find what is good and what is not so good away from the OEM market. Sometimes it works and sometimes not. This was proven with the 400x but lucky in being able to use for the T120. In a normal world and away from YT, I guess I would always go for the options from the manufacturer, in this case Triumph. Go for it, I am sure the speedmaster will look and act great with the supplied screen 👍

HI Richard, informative video thanks, i was put off buying due to no centre stand for essential chain maintenance however Tec bike parts can supply a CNC Alloy chain adj block with rear paddock stand bobbins included ,£59.99 which you would have to factor in the cost of a rear paddock stand as well ! but would solve the problem, so may be light at the end of the tunnel.
@bankruptpensioner
@bankruptpensioner Күн бұрын
Hi David, don't let the chain be any issues to your choice of purchase. I use the spray lube about every 300 miles, probably less miles with the wet weather coming however it's easy enough to spray. Alternatively, a scottoiler would resolve all. The TEC products are great so some of their stuff would help 👍. I have found that the chain is not stretching - that said i don;t go popping wheelies or anything like that. So, the chain appears to be of good quality and as such, adjustment is few and far. Go look at my video on replacing the front sprocket. I will put a link below, as this shows how easy it is to adjust the chain on a centre stand. Excuse the crudity of the video, it was intended to go back to the 1980's when tools were limited and no torque wrenches etc 😆. The point is, it is easy to asjust the chain accurately on the side stand. kzbin.info/www/bejne/iIvWeXaCgNh6icU

Great question Mr JP. Different rides for different stokes I guess. With winter coming, the scrambler will take the lead. I don't want to drop the T120 😬. I am really fortunate to have two new bikes. If I had to give one away, then it would probabaly be driven thorugh financials. Therefore the T120 would need to go. If push came to shove, the T120 would be first I guess. But that's only looking through the lense of money. If one had to go and something other than financials was the driver, then the Scrambler would be the choice. The T120 is such a cool bike and wonderful to ride, long and short rides. Riding the T120 to Austria was perfect.

One of the missed opportunities for the pro bike industry lobbyists is the fact that motorcyclists in general have a better road sense of awareness, 2years of riding a motorcycle should be the compulsory route to qualifying for a provisional car license. I know this will upset a few folk but as a motorcycle rider from the age of 10 and now aged 64, I firmly believe riding bikes makes for a safer car driver. Just my point of view. Keep up the great videos.

I always said this was the way forward for road sense. Take the bike test (even if just a CBT) and must ride for a year on the road. Then the car test. Also, stop making car cockpits so bloody distracting. i have no idea, from a safety perspective, how cars have such screens in the dashboard. It's like having a laptop in your car. However, i am just an old fart 😆.

Very happy to help you wade through the world of confussion 😆. It is incredibily difficult to know what to do and who's advice to take. I always try to be objective in my reviews from a machine perspective and from a human perspective. The first rule is - do I feel comfortable? And comfortable means in control of the machine with few distractions (such as pain in the wrists because you are ast on a sports bike or the stretch to the handlebars as you are sat on a cruiser). Are my feet in a reasonable position? Can I put both feet on the ground when at traffic lights. Can I easily roll the bike backwards whilst sat on the bike etc etc. And the only way to do this, it to go sit on a machine and then take out for a test ride. The Scrambler is not perfect for every rider but neither are other bikes that are away from the picture a child would draw of a motorcycle. Find three bikes - go sit on them, rule one out, test ride the other two. If you fall in love, then you are good to go. If not, restart the process 😆

I am a Mum, it was me who persuaded our daughter to get a motorbike. You are right I am very protective, but riding a motorbike on the road is far safer then her preferred method of transport, the pushbike. I do ride a motorbikes myself so I am a bit different. We are women who grew up in the 80s, we don't restrict what our children do. The issue is the majority of youngsters prefer to live their life through a screen. Also buying a decent 125 is extremely expensive, insurance is eye watering, then there is the kit, the parents do not have the money either. I know there is a train of thought that women are the kill joys, it is not the case. We broke out of that mode and started realise that gender was not a restriction to we can and cannot do, so there is no way would I put restrictions on my child. Obviously, manners, being respectful, being a good human being are still a must. I really get sick of hearing I bet it's the mums fault. This is not the 70s any more.
@bankruptpensioner
@bankruptpensioner 6 күн бұрын
Hi Ozzy, many thanks for the comment 👍. It's not the mums fault at all - just things have changed and this is for 80% and it looks like you are in the 20%, which is great. Firstly, the tought of one of my kids of the road on a bicycle sounds very dangerous. At least with a bike, you become part of the vehicle chain and this appears to be much safe in the big picture. Parents are very protective, mums expecially. And I understand this. And to be fair, we as a society ahve never been so safe (statistically). The media does give an alternate perspective however, this is just for headlines. Expensive - everything is expensive. When I was a kid, I didn't have the nice riding jackets or boots. Levis 501 and trainers, t shirt, and a normal jacket - however today, we would not dream of doing this (that said, only a few years ago when I lived in Qatar, I had shorts, t shirt, and trainers to ride a Triumph TBird 1700). Are we now too rich? Not sure? Great comment and I mean this. Good to hear from the other side 👍. ❓what is the other side? Sounds like a star wars film 😆. Well done to your young daughter for being part of something very special - motorcycles. She may well be the future star for the Long Way Round fior the girls - I do hope so 👍. Shiny side up 👍

Probably inspired by itchy boots. 😂 who knows maybe women will save the motorcycle industry. The selection of riding kit for women has dramatically improved since I passed my test in 1998. I wore jeans, Dr Martens, the smallest man’s leather jacket I could find and the smallest gloves that were still too big. Loved my Kawasaki ZXR400 though. Wish I still had it, but would probably need my own personal chiropractor now if I road it for more than an hour.

@@ozzyprogdomino8815 You are right, female riders are on the rise and this is a good thing. About time too if I say. Lot's of female riders in Europe and the UK should catch up. Itchy boots is a great advocate for male and female riders. She promotes good sensible riding but does push capability to the edge which is great. Doodle on a Motorcycle is another advocate however, sometimes she does promote super small people riding super big bikes - which is a recipe for a small disaster 😆..... but that's my opinion, not a fact I hasten to add 😆. Having seen this over the past 30 years, womens clothing has come on well. The problem with women is their shapes are so varied (I am guessing here). I am not talking skinny Vs large, I am talking from neck to hips (just for a starter). With a female, the torso is so different from woman to woman. And, the jacket one looks at is either too tight in one area and too loose in another. It must be a hell of a job to try to satisfy all these different combinations in manufacture. And thats only from neck to hips. The you have waist to ankle 😆. A designers nightmare I guess. I guess that is why gear, even now, is so limited. I suggest protective kit over normal clothing (t shirt) which just protects the rider. Then over the protective kit, a normal jacket that would be purchased from any high street shop. This must work better for females as the material that holds all the protection in place is stretchy - catering for the many combinations of shapes. What you think to that? I am thinking of buying a 660 Daytona, and at the age of 57, I am sure after 45 mins, I will start to hurt 😆. But, for this kind of bike, and at my age, this may well be the last lap (opportunity) to enjoy a sports bike. 😆.

@@bankruptpensioner There is also, UsernameKate, R1 Liz, Tins on Tours, with Faye. Saffy Sprocket, and some youngers my daughter likes "tiptoe riders" who giggle as much as ride. 🙂 "Rest day Rider" All creating a good image and inspiration for new riders. As for gear, Moto Girl do a great job of creating really good, well thought out and safe motorbike gear for women. On a selfish front the more women ride the more it is financially viable for manufactures to make more gear for women. So I get more choice 🙂

@@ozzyprogdomino8815 I had a good chat with Saffy at the ABR this year. All the others offer great content on YT. All about volume sales and if more women ride, then the selection will grow and more importantly, the size and shape options will grow. Good news really for all.

Richard you are so right on this subject. I am quite miffed that I did not sit my bike test prior to 2000, as I am told I would not have had to do the theory and it would have been that much to pass. Maybe they aught to give us old timers a second chance to re-sit the test for those of us that missed the deadline. This would help to increase market share and benefit the economy, as we would then be able to go out and buy the bike of our dreams? I have plenty of experience in riding bikes, having done a lot of off roading in my youth.

Frankly kids seem to be quite lazy, and much more risk adverse as everything seen online today has to do with the bad side of things though media. Faces stuck in their phones. They also don't want anything to do with manual transmission of any sorts. No one wants to work hard to get toys either.

That is a good point Keith. When I was a kid, the harder and longer you worked, the more you got! Over the past 20 years, the EU (pre brexit etc) drove the message to 36 or whatever hours a week. And this has indoctrinated the young. They actually beleive that they are hard done to because the don't get enough for 36 hours. I used to work 80 and go the reward (or so it felt at the time). The word 'conspiracy' or term 'world order' comes to mind 😆

I think the reason younger people don't ride is because for seasoned riders insurance is reasonable, for a new rider though depending where you live the insurance rate is astronomical. my 125cc insurance fully comp was almost £1800, 650cc is £3600. Sure you can get 3rd party but if you drop it and cause major damage or some rat steals the bike then yknow its a lost cause. The likelihood of a new rider at 17-18 having enough to buy out a whole new bike or have enough for repairs is not exactly high in this day and age. Now add those costs ontop of the ever increasing cost of rent, gas, electric, food etc This would be more of the reason why there aren't as much younger riders

People are asking too much money for 6month old bikes when selling privately, you got to knock the 20% VAT off, then another amount to cover the additional owner, wear and tear etc, if not its just makes sense to buy from a dealer , with all the protection that comes with it. Ive sold 2 bikes in the last 6 months, i priced them keenly, and they went quickly. Trying to sell privately and asking dealer money , is never going to work.

Good video and interesting opinions. Refreshing that someone acknowledges that an opinion is not necessarily a fact! I don't think you are quite right although there maybe something in your view, I just haven't encountered it. I think there are two main causes. The first is that, blind to the environmental advantages of motorcycling, successive governments have discouraged people from getting into motorbikes. Firstly, limiting learners to small machines that struggle to cope with modern traffic does them no favours, the testing structure is unfathomably complex for no clear reason which introduces time delays and extra costs for little return, if any. Training car drivers to look out for motorcyclists would have had a more cost-effective impact on safety. The other factor applies to the UK, which is the climate combined with the penny-pinching attitude towards maintaining roads and keeping them clear in winter. I'm thankful that I passed my test in the 1970s. I was about 31 years old when finances compelled me to sell my beloved Triumph around 1989 and didn't get back into bikes until 2022, when I treated myself to a classic AJS.

I got myself a brand new (well, actually a 23-model, but it had sat unused at the dealers exhibit, so virtually new but unused) Bonneville T-120 in the middle of August. Finally managed to pass the test and get the bike-license just under 4 weeks ago, and have put nearly 1500km on it in the last few weeks. Maybe a bit ambitious as a first bike, but I have absolutely no regrets. Looking at it you'd think it may be a case of style over substance, but the simple truth is that the T120 deliver both in spades! It's is wonderfully easy and comfortable to ride, perfect for a calm relaxing Sunday cruise, but still goes like a bat out of Hell if my inner 12-year-old takes over and the going gets a bit frisky! It's pretty much a n excellent Jack-of-all-trades and a purebred Ace when it comes to looks!
