I guess I'm a little confused why you purchased it in the first place. Everything that you talked about disliking was clearly advertised and even part of the selling features. 🤔

I too had been pondering on the choice between xs20 and xt50 , i chose the xs20 finally based on a few things, the grip is way more comfortable, the battery is excellent in regards to the capacity, and i really don't need the film sim dedicated button. My only wish was the xs20 would have a little more pixels for cropping, that's all. Photos are great either way. A 30 or 32 mp would be wonderful, but 26mp is sufficient for most non-pro people out there. I'm crazy about the recent lenses by Viltrox , they give me more pleasure than just a high pixel count sensor.

The images look great. Do you have created more recipes? Also any chance you ever did side by side with fuji to actually see the color difference?

It's so funny everything you said I have experienced and agree with in regards to these two systems. I think the solution is to shoot Sony for professional work and set up pre-made colour grades in Lightroom that you can then apply to the Sony RAW images to insert a bit of character into them, then you get the best of both worlds I think. The best shooting experience with the best RAW flexibility and with the preset colour grading - that immediate satisfaction that we all love about Fuji systems.

Totally agree with your comments about the 40MP sensor - it just does not feel as natural or immersive as the 26MP sensor. I have just "upgraded" (in my opinion) from the X-T5 to the X-S20 and I am very happy with it. The. X-S20 fixes most of the problems you had with the X-T50 actually (again in my opinion).

I love the pop up flash. x100 6 doesnt have interchangeable lenses, totally different camera. X-t50 is a high end compact travel camera simple as that, if you want to photography every day as a hobby or professionally you would go the x-t5

The X-T5 is designed to provide a tactile experience like film cameras. Naturally the button layout of the Sony is aimed towards efficiency. But once you pick it up you can quickly make adjustments on the fly on the Fuji. Its all a matter of getting used to.

There's a lot of ways you can bake amazing colors into a sony. It takes work up front, but my workflow is shooting, and the images transfer to the client shared folder from my phone. I can do additional editing, but usually don't have to. Check out the articles by Veres Deni Alex and color from these cameras won't be so much of a mystery.

Hi Michael, thanks for this comparison. Of course coming from Sony you are more use to that system and commands, by using the FUJI you can easily get familiar too. The real serious issue is the AF, it's unbelievable that by the end of 2024 we are still observing this issue. FUJIFILM need to quickly cover and correct this issue, they have a great marketing team but they cannot keep telling the story of retro look, recipe to customize the processing .... simply they are missing to deliver a reliable AF system.

IMO the current price of the XT50 is too expensive and too bloated to be a 2nd tier camera, and Fuji needs to treat its customers right. It seems to be the accountant and marketing got too much involvement in current line ups. Firstly, the price of XT50 is only about 20% less than the XT5, and including the newer kit lens is probably about 15% less! Any sane person like myself will choose the XT5 for its much more refined shutter, buttons and dials; WR; dual card; bigger and more solid body; better flip screen and so on. They should’ve left out the IBIS, kept the weight under 400g and old kit lens, and price it under US$1000 (or around $1200 with the old kit lens) The XM5 is in the right direction though. The other thing about auto focus is, when Sony was the only company with awesome AF, I can live with Fuji’s shortcomings. But when other manufacturers caught up and Fuji hasn’t? That’s a no no. With many things in life, loyalty only goes so far, and if the company doesn’t treat their customers right, they will leave! I don’t want Fuji to go down like the M34 cameras, so stop letting the accountants and marketing get in the way of quality products. And about the sensor shortages? I’m pretty sure it’s a marketing thing, because when no other manufacturer faces this problem in late 2024, Fuji shouldn’t! Common Fuji! You’re better than this!

Why did you buy it in the first place? Almost everything you mention why you don't like it you should have known beforehand. I am not a fan of the X-T50 but it makes no sense why you bought this and IMO this video is quite pointless. "I am returning a camera I don't like".

If you shoot raw the film simulation dial is not only useless but it wastes a major dial. Plus you pay a lot for a functionality you don't use. Any Fuji camera with the silly film sim dial will automatically be a no-go for me.

How is that an incorrect statement? Each sensor size increase has a compromise typically just in zoom lens and in the case of medium format, price and very little lens selection. But in terms of realistic image resolving power (ie maximized within reasonable lens resolving requirements vs the 40mp Fuji), dynamic range, ISO performance, DOF capability..... What exactly is better about a smaller sensor? You can come to a different compromise that works for you, doesn't make the general statement that a larger sensor is one with better technical capabilities incorrect.

It does not matter at all "how" you take a photo. Whether in manual, P, Aperture priority, shutter priority, whatever. That's like saying that a painter can only use paint from a tube and not from a bottle. It's such a BS in my opinion. I shoot jpeg only in program mode, without any filter simulations. Just the standard profile. If that's not enough to take a good photo, than I'm a bad photographer.

I've tried them but the whole process is very unintuitive, you can't name the profiles, the gamma settings will also effect RAWs, and the guy who makes them charges for them... Which considering all the above is not worthwhile as an investment. Especially as the few free ones he provides to get people in are not that convincing IMO

Relatable. I dropped my XE4 and was presented with a repair bill worth more than the camera. So I ordered a silver 7CR and 40mm G that should be here today or tomorrow. I think Fuji is a great system but I was ready for a change (I also own a ton of GM glass for video stuff). The sucky part of moving to Sony for still will be losing film sims, which is why I am here. I have to try and replicate the look. That was the best part of the Fuji for me. I'll try this film some

Use Movie Optimized mode for video and set your settings with the command dials like any other camera. When you switch to movie mode, it’ll ignore the dials and use your previous video settings.
