Awesome video. With those idler pulleys, you can easily change the bearings in them for about $2 at any bearing supplier

Thanks for watching mate. We used to replace just the bearings, but considering how cheap the complete pulleys are now we just tend to play the ‘it’s more convenient’ card as just go with that. But there’s nothing wrong with just doing the bearings either

Quick question about the l67 thermostat I've taken it off and there was no thermostat is that OK? I did put one in and it wasn't working right so now I'm doing it all again. Should I put the sealant on both sides of the gasket also?
@cassarindustries_wheelwerk15 күн бұрын
Definitely better to run these engine with a thermostat. If you put a colder thermostat in (82 degrees) it will also help. Running a colder thermostat is a good mod to do. I generally just put a very light smear of sealant on both sides

Highly recommend remove front sway bar and NOT remove rear one, it will help Your front flex more and maintain body leveled during obstacles. Also rear sway bar will push front down and help keeping all 4 wheels on the ground = more traction overall.
@cassarindustries_wheelwerk20 күн бұрын
Thanks mate. We have unbolted the front sway bar from the links when he’s been off road, and definitely makes a difference. But on road it is much more planted with the sway bar on. So he wants to keep the option there.

Need to confess my sins, have re used the sump plug washer for 12 oil changes straight. (Though always pre fill the oil filter) and have on occasion washed the air and cabin filters in the washing machine. Great video thanks, good clear information. Was less than impressed with Suzukis cost cutting wheel bolts. Also imagine if Suzuki (Aisin) did something revolutionary, something so advanced, something from decades in to the future, and put a fill port in the top of transmission? Could then use "the force" to get the new fluid back in.
@cassarindustries_wheelwerkАй бұрын
Oh mate that makes my ocd go into overdrive. Improbably wont sleep tonight now! There is actually now a fill plug in the side of the transmission that most of the facelift vitaras have. My wife’s one is the only facelift model I’ve seen that doesn’t have it. But hers is one of the first facelift so perhaps it got an old transmission case? Who knows
@MrWilliam.StewartАй бұрын
@cassarindustries_wheelwerk Thanks for the update. Re the sump plug washer, never had one leak or come loose, so if you ever need to do an oil change, and for whatever reason don't have a new crush washer, pretty safe to chant the Aussie classic, "she'll be right mate"

@cassarindustries_wheelwerkАй бұрын
I just went with standard recommended for a 2” lift. Seeing as I don’t run drawers or anything too heavy in the back, and the car doesn’t have a bullbar. I was going to run heavier in the front as I always intended up one day getting a bullbar, but decided not to. Never did get that bullbar… maybe one day

@cassarindustries_wheelwerkАй бұрын
@richardwalsh5570 if you plan on getting an upgraded front bar in the near future then go for it. But just note with a standard front bar and slightly heavier front springs, it will sit slightly higher in the front, and also be slightly firmer

Hey I see the manual conversion is finished. I want to know if it is worth going manual foe a street car. How does it drive compared to the auto? Performance better, clutch feel good, how did the wiring go. Did you get it tuned?
@cassarindustries_wheelwerkАй бұрын
Yes mate there’s a full series on how to manual swap a V6 commodore on my channel. Detailed process of doing it in stages. Drives fairly well, but it’s hard to find a good 2nd hand getrag these days that doesn’t have any crunching of gears or noisy bearings. I do recommend also changing differential gear ratios of doing the swap. The manuals come factory with 3.45 diff gears where to autos come with 3.08. Still drives fine, but a tad sluggish down low with the lower gears. End of the day it comes down to personal preference if you prefer driving auto or manual

Did you need to heat the rear tail shaft bolts to loosen the Loctite, as my rattly gun is not getting them loose?
@cassarindustries_wheelwerkАй бұрын
Nah matey never heard of anyone needing to do that… not something I’d recommend either as the rest Tailshaft coupling is filled with grease and it’s not high temp grease. Just put the handbrake up and crack them lose with a breaker bar first. When you can’t tech the other, release the handbrake, spin the Tailshaft, and repeat

@@cassarindustries_wheelwerk Dude it shows, if you haven't already could you go back over the power steering flush please?, even if you "show" without actually doing it - I got my mechanic ticket from university Google & youtube :(
@cassarindustries_wheelwerkАй бұрын
Thanks heaps mate. Easier way to flush power steering is to suck out the reservoir, then fill it up with fresh fluid. Start the car and turn the steering wheel left to right a few times, then turn it off. Suck the floor out again, refill, start the car and turn the steering wheel a few times then turn it off. Keep repeating this until it’s clean.

Hey mate, did you get the engine light appear after changing the exhaust due to an o2 sensor issue or anything ? I changed my exhaust to a yoshi and had the engine light pop up. Mate said it was the o2 sensor eliminator
@cassarindustries_wheelwerkАй бұрын
I didn’t as the bike already had a tune prior to fitting the exhaust. So my exhaust parameters were already changed as I knew I’d be doing the exhaust later. But yes, with a standard tune, it will throw the engine light on, as the O2 sensor is detecting different flow, and different emissions compared to what it was calibrated for from the factory

Well my mechanic is doing the job( not me ) he is also replacing water pump/ thermostat, heater valve tap, dropping the old oil & replacing with fresh oil & replacing oil filter , he doing full Radiator Flush & Back flush through heater core & block & behind water pump ! Then next month money permitting he will start on front end suspension, Fulcrum Suspension did quote as did another Mechanic in my town & they were miles apart as to what i need to replace, so now 3rd time lucky 🙏 this new mechanic a mate put me in touch with will give me a more honest quote & price ! I'm sure some Mechanics & shops think we all haven't a clue about cars & parts , i didn't tell Fulcrum Suspension that ive worked on Holdens & old cars all my life , im now 59 with a spine condition that prevents me from doing the wrk myself, its funny when a Mechanic will tell me something that i know is utter bullshit 😂 so I just simply turn my back & leave his shop ! Without another word said , some shops treat us like fools , they do it with girls / women as well , they have no shame hey , there are plenty of great Mechanics out there 👍 Just have to sort the shit from the clay to find a honest work shop , loved your video & young car guys can learn from them 👍😃 Cheers from Qld 🕺🍹
