I always thought he was bi since he’s flirted with both women and men in the show

If you watch the anime called Moriarty the Patriot, they actually give more hint that there is something more than rivalry between Sherlock and James Moriarty. 🤣 and... SPOILER ALERT: They ran away together. 💕 so nothing can separate them. James and Sherlock said that they're each other's best friend. I'm just not sure how Watson feels about that

IMO, Sherlock and Moriarty are fundamentally asexual. Mycroft, too.

For all people who don't understand why French people in the room are laughing during the question, Yes we are dumb but not dissrespectful (not Sherlock fandom, i hope) It's not because they think someone saying "gay" or "sexuality" is funny, but because of Fanfiction. The absurdity to ask to Andrew Scott about fanfiction (and you know there isn't just 'some' fanfictions) between Sherlock and Jim is just enormous The guy who ask the question begin with "I know i'll make ennemies with this question" because he know there is not the kind of question you ask to an actor French People, we laugh when someone says something cringy or something that nobody dares to do People in this room were just surprised that he ask this, and our reaction is laugh It's just to explain the reaction, but personally i think this question seems to make Andrew really inconfortable and it's really dumb to ask it. And The whole question was approximately "I want to know what you think about gay fanfictions about your character. *laugh* I know that Steven Moffatt don't really likes it. I want to know what you think of the idea that fan make these relation And more personaly, if he has to imagine a gay relashionship with Jim, with wich other character he would imagine it ? *laugh*"

This is so late, but they pretty much just asked about Moriarty's sexuality and how Andrew Scott feels about how the fans portray Moriarty's sexuality in things like fanfiction.

I find it hillarious. He played one of the most brilliant minds in the world of modern sherlock holmes and obviously people are more interested in his DICK than anything else. Leave it to people to see everything through the narrow mindset of sexuality.

3 years later and i still love the way andrew handled this despite the crowd being so immature about it. it's hard to imagine people would laugh about a character in a heterosexual sense isn't it?? why is moriarty being gay treated like it's so risque?? i cannot stand that

There's so many comments on Andrew being Moriarty in disguise. And people say they are scared of Andrew even when he's not playing Moriarty. And it's not just in this comment section, I see it everywhere, is it just me who isn't scared of him at all and can see a clear difference between Andrew when he is and isn't in character?

What do you mean the creator doesn’t like the way people are putting two boy characters together ? The tv show creator ? With all the innuendos in this tv show, you really can’t blame fans to put Sherlock with John or Moriarty, and to think Moriarty and Sherlock are attracted to men
@thriftyfreebies3 жыл бұрын
So, which sexuality is he playing Moriarty as? I just endured minutes of abrasive giggling and I feel like I didn’t even get an answer to the question. It’s all very valid what he said and I agree with it, but still, give us a definitive answer to quell all the projecting!

Such a good answer. It is up to the audience to interpret it how they see fit- the character is there to provide them entertainment and can fit into whatever that person wants, allowing them to form a closer relationship with the show. After all, Moriarty isn't an actual human being. He is a character, made from fiction. So using the fiction from your own experiences or preferences isn't a bad thing.

I like to think that Moriarty's pansexual, but ain't really attracted to "ordinary people". But I'm not gonna say that HE IS pansexual who ain't attracted to ordinary people (unless the writers confirms that), because...well I can't say something like that :D Moriarty has never ever talked about his sexuality, so how am I supposed to know his sexuality? And how am I supposed to know that, since I don't even know my own sexuality in the first place?! I say I'm bi, but I don't know if I'm also asexual or demisexual. ...or am I like 60% into girls and 40% into boys or what (because I've learned that bisexuality doesn't mean you're 50% into boys and 50% into girls...like half and half).

Very good points in Andrew's statements here, it's nice to know that he spoke about using sexuality to feed a frenzy because a certain member of Sherlock's writing team seems to think that he's above doing that even though he's been doing it since the first episode

Yes, I think it didn’t emphasise the same things or maintain the same tone as the original question, which has led to many people wondering why the audience was laughing. The translator didn’t seem very comfortable with the topic to me, from what I heard.
