Did you have any issues with initial startup/tuning? Or did the 5.7 engine management system run it completely fine? Hopefully going to rebuild a 6.4 truck motor core and swap it into my 15 durango with no issues, hoping not to fool with tuning it cause I’ve gotten mixed feedback on if the 6.4 needs anything extra besides injectors or coils

The 5.7 tune will run it, but you need a new tune because the 6.4 has different timing requirements.

A V6 to V8 swap is not the same. It requires a different pcm, wire harness and transmission. You would possibly have to upgrade the cooling system as well.

The 5.7 harness will be more compatible with your vehicle, but you need to extend a couple of plugs. The 6.4 harness will have the SRV control plug, but your pcm will not control it. You could use either one.

@tonyharmsen50816 ай бұрын
The motor should work, but the trans may not. If the srt8 trans is an 8 speed, make sure it physically matches and the plugs are the same. If it’s not the 8 speed, don’t use it. Use the Durango trans. I have another video where I recapped all the parts that I used. Good luck.

Currently doing this upgrade to my Durango SRT Swap, i seen some comments wondering about the trackhawk 400mm front rotors and they will not fit I just tried it. Bought some 2021 Jeep GC SRT brembos they use the same size calipers and rotors from the trackhawk and hellcat durango these rotors are too big by an inch they will not allow the caliper to bolt on need 380mm max size rotors for the caliper to bolt on correctly which is great because 380mm rotors are more widely available from powerstop etc

Did this 2 years back. What I learned is if you have the money for the 2 piece rotors go with the trackhawk brembos if not go with the SRT brembos and the 380mm front rotor and 350mm rear rotor. Trackhawks front rotors at 400mm.

@@The45WhispersI want to say yes. Are you changing both front calipers though? The difference between the calipers is the mounting holes are a little further down on the trackhawk to allow space for the 400mm 2 piece rotor. Both are 6 piston.

Tony, great work, excellent video, and sweet ride. My 2017 DD 4X2 (RWD) is pushing 562WHP. I am still using the 3.09 diff. The original 4X2 (RWD) 3.09 OEM diff descriptions include 230mm 3.09 rear axle ratio "Conventional" type. It is not described as an LSD, electronic LSD, or Open differential type differential so I am not sure which type it is. Since the diff is not electronically controlled, I guess the traction control with the ABS system uses the brakes to help control traction. I assume the 3.45 uses the same principle and the spline counts with the stock 230mm diameter halfshafts will work without changing. I was wondering if you can spin both tires with the added power without the braking affect by turning off traction control.
@tonyharmsen50818 ай бұрын
Yes it will light up both tires with traction control off.

Hey Tony your work is fantastic . I’m trying to do the same as you and I would like to ask you a couple questions if you don’t mind? 1st question I have a 2011 Dodge Durango crew 5.7L and I’m swapping it out with a 6.4L HEMI. I ran across a few problems like my drive shaft won’t hook up to my differential and it’s stock. I have a 3.45 would u recommend me upgrading it or do u think it would handle the motor? 2nd my exhaust won’t fit and the ones I been looking at cost a pretty penny do u have any recommendations? 3rd did u upgrade your U connect system so that you would have all the options to set your hp and everything else from your radio? If so could u please give me some info on how to do some of things and where I can find some parts that’s not so pricey. Thanks again Tony Love your work!!
@tonyharmsen50819 ай бұрын
Not sure why the drive shaft doesn’t fit. If it was the same transmission as the 5.7, it should fit. As you saw in my video, I swap to a 3:45. So why would you think it wouldn’t handle it? If you want to run the stock exhaust, you will need to buy new exhaust manifold flanges, have a shop cut off the old ones and weld on the new ones. No, I did nothing to the Uconnect. Watch my video where I recap the installation and show the exhaust parts I used. Thanks for watching.
@torrencewalls13148 ай бұрын
For some reason my 5.7 came with a 6 speed transmission and not a 8 speed. But I have a the 6.4L transmission and my driveshaft hooks up to the differential just not to the transmission. Any suggestions?
