The conflict is a distraction for Elias. And he probably delayed signing because of it. I'd guess Miller has been bullying Elias, getting under his skin because Petey is a swedish player, where we don't have your silly gentleman fights. Thus EP40 has not wasted his time praticing that boring childs play. And Tocchet has sided with Miller, being punishing to Petey as a coach. Money doesn't matter to Petey, that's the business leeches, and if you don't have your team with you nobody can shine. Hope Petey gets out of there someway. So pissed.

He's not Tocchet's kind of player - that was obvious last year, never mind this. When there was talk of him going to Carolina last year part of me wanted him to go for his sake - to a team that would want him to play the way he plays best, and not try to hammer a round peg into a square hole. But the management obviously rate him, otherwise he wouldn't have got the contract he did, which raises interesting questions about where this will all end up. Tocchet is making himself part of the problem IMO by not putting them out on the PP together, especially when they were a goal down in the third. Sticking PDG and Karlsson on first and second lines is one way of telling management "look how badly I need a top six winger," but not what you do if you can make the same point in a conversation. Miller traded after Christmas and Tocchet gone in summer if things don't improve is not too out there.

Maybe the Canucks need to go for someone who Hughes can feel confident in playing with if there's no one out there...once they find that right fit, Hronek can be that anchor on the second pairing. When Hughes was ejected with that match penalty, Hronek stepped up and actually played really well. Hard to say though now when he gets back and how fast he will regain his play to where it was before. It'll be a nerve racking few weeks to watch once he gets back and will be dreading all these trolls taking a swipe at the guy if he's slow to return to game shape. 😬 Just reading the comments about Joshua makes me feel ashamed to be here in Vancouver. I'm glad that Dakota is improving and not being a liability on the ice.

When a team isn't winning and a power play isn't clicking, nobody looks great. Yes, both our 1 & 2 centers are underperforming. No, they don't mix well as pals. Yes, the Vancouver market and media are ravenous rumor mongers. No, the management does not let information out. Add that up and multiply it by the heightened expectations and there you go. I think there may be a little disagreement between players, but I don't think that adds up to have a serious effect on their will to win. I think it's more likely that you have both players who are going through things that may be of a highly personal nature that may even have an effect on their value as players. It could be physical or mental. But I don't think you can fry the bacon yet. There's barely any sizzle, and the pan's certainly not hot enough to brown anything.

Let me know your guys thoughts about this. petey started struggling around the time there were contract talks. could it be that miller has been taking it out on petey for taking an unfriendly contract. Petey plays bad with a big contract, Miller Gets mad at Petey, Petey cant handle miller being a dick and continues to play bad. repeat. Remember petey played good when miller left. not easy watching a guy play worse than you and make 3.6 million more. not easy to play good while someone contantly calls you out on mistakes. i dont think this is happening if peteys making 9 million.

It should not be UP TO THE COACH to "get them ready to play". Stop making excuses for your players, Tocchet. Both goals before OT were directly on Myers; he left his check to double team a player with his D-partner , and Keller was left wide open for the feed and goal, then he takes a COMPLETELY pointless, useless, bone-headed crosscheck penalty (Myers...? WTF do you think your GIANT shoulders were made for?!?!? Why can't you EVER use them? Uhm... INSTEAD of crosschecking everyone near you? HOW MANY YEARS have you been playing this game?????? )... The OT G was on Miller, who PUSHED at the end of a shift, instead of keeping possession and changing (the 2nd time he did that to turn over the puck in that OT session!! Just a AMATUER MOVE, Miller... HOW LONG have you been playing this game?) F' !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SIMPLE, SIMPLE hockey 101 ... No wonder the coach is so frustrated.

I feel like more people need to be pushing this idea. For the right price he can be had out of New York and would be a perfect partner for Willander for years to come. Hughes - Hronek Miller - Willander That’s a top 4 you can build around for years.

I don't want to see Petey moved, but, this was the worst decision I've seen the new regime make: 5th highest paid player in the NHL ???? That is rarified air, for Hart Trophy players; is Pettersson a Hart Trophy player? No, no, and no. He doesn't look like he ever would be, when compared to the best players in the NHL ahead of him now, let alone the potential younger players behind him coming up. WHY did they do this? The only reason I can see, is his agent threatened for him to walk, as per Calgary's Tkachuk, et al. But now we eat it, for a long long time, OR, yeah, Vancouver are FORCED to move him, due to their own decision to put themselves behind this 8-Ball... Such a strange decision by this management group, after all that great salary moves they've made so far.

The trade clause in his 1st year, wasn't agreed on from both sides, it's part of the collective bargaining agreement doesn’t allow it. A player can only ask for an NMC after they’ve played in the NHL for seven seasons, or have turned 27. In either case, a player without a contract at that age or with that service time is an unrestricted free agent.

I think Elias is not the player he could and even should be in Vancouve, and this for a number of reasons. Miller and Elias is no super combo, not on the ice and not off the ice. Tocchet with his no risk, dump the puck, and stay in front of the net Elias, is surely not bringing out the full potential of the player. Quinn, terrific Quinn, limits Elias game especially on the PP. Quinn and Miller is a fit. Quoin and Elias is not. Well of the ice maybe but on the ice not really. The conclusion would be that a new team for Elias, under the right circumstances, could be a homerun on three different fronts - Vancouvers, Elias and his new team.

That's exactly what I think. on the right team, and the right playing style, he can be a 120 point player. But he can't play tocchets crash and burn style play. Our style is built for size and speed and Pettersson is slow and relies on open space, which he is no longer getting from other teams. They know he's dangerous so he's always closely covered, the problem is he's not fast and evasive like other star players. He does have incredible vision, but we dont even have the right players to compliment him right now. I think the deal looks wayyy better if it were Tage Thompson and Bowen Byram for Petey and Juulsen maybe.

Canucks have under $2M cap space and re-signed Garland, Joshua, Hronek and Peterson to raises. Where TF are Canucks going to get the cap space to bring in a “top centre” and “top defencemen” that everyone keeps saying they need. Hogs is only 1.1M this year. Everyone needs to stop dreaming and the Canucks will roll with what they’ve got. Best they can do is add some depth players and that’s it, unless you dump a major piece or put Hronek on LTIR for the rest of the season.

So, according to your logic, you keep the cancer that keeps metastasizing, in the room? Bold strategy cotton. Pettersson is a highly valued player and Cozens is a pretty good player on a bad team. Miller centers the first line and Cozens centers the second. The kid had 68 points a 22/23. Byram immediately becomes our number two, after Hughes and likely buys time till Hronek gets back. You can then flip Hoglander and whatever else to Pittsburgh for Pettersson. If you're worried Buffalo isn't paying enough, you ask for a first or second that we can keep or flip for another winger.

I strongly disagree. Petterson is one of the top 3 players in the NHL, yet he does not play anywhere near the "franchise player" level. The other facts are that his play and points have been trending down while his salary is trending up, and his no-trade clause gets locked in this summer. Whether we want to face the fact or not, Petterson's salary over the duration of the contract will undermine the team's ability to dress a competitive and well-balanced team going well into the future. Canuck fans want a Stanley Cup, or at least the consistent compete that gives the team a chance to try and win one. The question is whether Petterson or Miller will get you there. I think last year's playoff performance answered that question.

Miller 3 points in 2 games, Pettersson 0 points in 2 games. Pettersson zero shots in Florida game, finally got a weak shot on Boston in the 2nd period. Being down 3-2 against the Blues going into the 3rd period and the team not getting a shot until the 10 min mark of the 3rd period, where is the $11.6M player to step up in a situation like that, just showing up to play in the last 10 mins of a 60 mins game isn't acceptable. Tocchet comment after Bruins game and saying you can't play 1 good game and then 2 bad, is definitely a shot at Pettersson for getting points in the Blues game, and then getting 0 points in the last 2 games. The slow starts are still a problem with these guys, they were outshot 16-4 in the 1st. They were outshot 17-2 against the Blue Jackets in the 1st not too long ago, they were outshot by the Oilers most of the playoffs, same crap. Bruce Boudreau when he was coaching, the slow starts were happening all the time under him, Bruce mentioned how they were outshot 10-1 in the first period after a game, and he doesn't understand why they're having the slow starts then either. It's year after year of the same crap with these guys, moves need to happen to these core guys, Pettersson is one of them and Boeser is another, it's time to move on from them.
