How to fix if your tension knob is all the way up 100% and it still slips rotates how to fix
@SlammedOutdoors9 күн бұрын
I’d try to loosen the tension knob to around 50-60% ish depending on how much line you have on the spool, the spool should still rotate but it should barely wiggle back and fourth if you put your thumb on it. If you set the tension knob about halfway this should help with that, the rest of the adjustments can be made with the brakes by setting it to 3 or 4 to start with and go from there. Hope this helps!

Bro my dc has drag slip. Idk what to do. I have fluorocarbon on it spooled at bass pro, I have to turn my drag star all the way down to get it not to slip. It’s really tightened down. Even at 80% tightened down, it still slips. I had braid on it and it was even worse. Any tips?
@SlammedOutdoors9 күн бұрын
It’s weird that it’s still slipping with flouro, if it’s still an issue you could put a piece of electrical tape on the spool over the knot that you used to tie the line to the spool and that should help if it keeps slipping, braid has a bad tendency to slip if it’s tied directly to the spool. If it’s slipping on the hookset you might just need to tighten the drag unless your breaking off on the hookset. If this doesn’t help it lmk or check with bass pro to see if they have any possible solutions or if something is wrong with the reel itself.

Hey! Nice video!!! I'm curious about your "strategy" to walk the bank with a backpack and 3-4 rods... I have an issue that I usually stay in one place and don't move/walk too much: maybe bc I'm too lazy, or bc I think "the fish will bite on the next cast" so I need to stay there (aka FOMO), or bc I usually don't have a lot of time to fish.... or a combination of all of them. But I'm trying to practice and forcing myself to walk along the bank, sometimes around the whole pond, and cover as much water as I can. But I found really hard to do this with multiple rods... backpack is fine, bc I can keep it on my back the whole time, but multiple rods is just super annoying: leaving the rods, making some casts, walk maybe 20-30 feet, and then come back to get the rods.... So how do you deal with that? Any tips?
@SlammedOutdoorsАй бұрын
Personally I like to cover ground just because the fish typically hold in like 3-4 different spots at my ponds so I like to try and at least spend like 10-15 minutes in those spots if I have time. The multiple rods is a pain Ngl but it’s faster then stopping to retie 3-4 times if I’m not sure what they’re eating, if I can get on a pattern I like to take my rods back and just fish with 1 rod plus the backpack because it’s way more efficient. I usually like to setup my bag and the rods I’m not using in a spot then fish the bank within like 30 feet of that then switch rods and repeat until I decide to try a different spot on the pond or decide to tie on a different bait. Also in my experience if I don’t get a bite in a specific part of the pond within like 30 minutes either none of the baits I’m using are working or the fish aren’t holding where I’m fishing.

@SlammedOutdoorsАй бұрын
I don’t see a huge difference between the XG and the HG personally, I’d probably get there HG if you can find it at a little bit cheaper price. Both reels are still on the fast end so I would probably look into the HG.

Some people put electrical tape over the spool with no mono does that still work or do you have to put mono before braid
@SlammedOutdoors6 ай бұрын
The electrical tape works pretty well, if you use electrical tape you won’t need to have the mono and you can just go straight to the braid. The tape or the mono both serve as a surface for the braid to hold to so the line doesn’t slip but you won’t need the mono if you have the electrical tape

What type of water do you have. I'm currently in North Carolina but I live on base so the water sometimes cloudy green. What time do you fish. One thing I'll say tho when using a jig is have a creature bait attach to it. The action really makes a difference
@SlammedOutdoors7 ай бұрын
I fish in Ohio and our water clarity is all over the place, most of the places I fish it’s a clear/blue kinda color. The best times to go are typically in the morning or the last couple hours of daylight, in the fall I like to fish mid afternoon since that’s when it’s the warmest. The creature trailers are great, I’ve started using chunk style trailers which have been killing it for me. They don’t have a lot of action but this helps since the fish I’m fishing for are really pressured.
@seancusson727 ай бұрын
Great video. Just subscribed! The one thing I wish people would explain about the "wiggling spool" is if that wiggle amount is different for every lure weight because if always sounds like people are ignoring the lure weight and just "fixing it" until it stops wiggling. I just upgraded to this from an Abu Garcia Zata and on that reel I would adjust the tension knob until the lure drops slowly. How is this setup different on the Shimano? Does a lighter lure cause different spool rattle than a heavier one? Just wondering how you adjust the tension for the lure weight.
@SlammedOutdoors7 ай бұрын
The wiggle amount should be the same for every lure with the Curado DC. The reasoning behind tightening the spool so it doesn’t have any wiggle is to ensure the DC chip in the reel can get the correct casting distance without backlashing. I haven’t personally noticed any difference with rattle between the different lure weights but I have notice a little as you lose line on the spool over time. If you think you’re going to throw lighter baits on your curado I’d recommend maybe tightening the tension knob a little bit past the point where it wiggles or set the brakes to 4 until you get the casting distances dialed in. Thanks for the sub! Hope this explanation helps!
@seancusson727 ай бұрын
@@SlammedOutdoors so this is what I find confusing though. Do you not adjust the spool tension individually for each lure so that they drop "slow"? If I adjust the spool tension only to the point where the rattle goes away then the lure still drops pretty quickly. My instinct is to tighten it more so that I get a slow drop on the lure but then I'm tightening it considerably more past the point where the spool just stops rattling.
@SlammedOutdoors7 ай бұрын
Yea it seems really weird at first, you don’t need to adjust the tension by bait on a Curado if it has the DC chip in it. If you have problems backlashing with it set this way then I’d probably tighten it a little but I haven’t noticed it being a problem. The DC reels are probably the only baitcasting reels like this, It was a weird adjustment when I switched to it also.
@seancusson727 ай бұрын
@@SlammedOutdoors perfect! That's the answer I was looking for. Man that's such an adjustment for the brain. Up until now it's always "Make sure you readjust your tension knob every time you put a new lure on!"
