I feel so awkward now cause I grew up in Polynesian dancing and I kinda completely forgot 'aparima was a thing and I was learning contemporary dance and Limon style and they were like ur dance background is ur foundation, so when u share it that's what will come through. And so I was doing improv and I learned I did a lot of waves throughout my body. I knew the hips came from Ori Tahiti but I didn't realize exactly what I was doing with my arms. Some of it was belly dance inspired tbh but a lot of it especially in Limon style (as a dancer it's always been for storytelling not just performance but just expression) I realized now WATCHING THESE 'APARIMA VIDEOS IVE BASICALLY JUST BEEN DOING FULL ON 'APARIMA'S FOR MY IMPROV HAHA I was thinking oh ya the leg is from my ballet and blah blah blah, no no, most of the time it's full on Ori Tahiti and such and sometimes yk the Limon and belly dance come through, the contemporary is there, but it sTILL JUST LOOKS LIKE A 'APARIMA and now I feel so awkward cause even tho I'm blessed to know that it's held in such a special place in my HEART that I'm still able to just dO THAT WHENEVER I WANT and to feel so lovely after, I feel so awkward as well the fact that nobody probably knows or they just never pointed it out that I'm practically just "hula" dancing to them is so embarrassing cause at least the improv IS there, but I'm in a contemporary dance class😅😅 now I'm only realizing now what I'm doing but at least I have a whole new inspiration and I might just give more power to this especially since I know what the heck I'm doing now! I was super young when I learned Polynesian dancing so it's stuck with me but the memory was definitely wonky until now💕🤲 blessings and I love you're dance!

Just thinking this could have been a dance created by the Tahitian women years and years ago to attract the men in their group. If so then there is a major problem for me. I would go nuts trying to pick which one I would choose. All of them would be my best choice. hehe I do love this group.
