TAHIA CAMBET - JAPAN WORKSHOP TOUR 2019 #1

Konbanwa! Good evening ladies! 🌸
Got home safe and sound, exhausted and very moved by this week spent in Japan, I met and shared unforgettable moments with more than 300 people.
45 hours of classes, 20 workshops, 285 dancers, 10 different choreographies, 35 hours of sleep.
Conclusion: I feel like I lived 1 month in 1 week 😜
Each class was different, all were awesome!
I started teaching the day I arrived and met Hitomi Tange and her school. We worked on the choreographies "Stay" then "Icare" which earned me huge body aches all along my stay.
I quickly realized the level of Japanese dancers and their technical needs which allowed me to improve the classes day after day.
They gave everything, we suffered 😅
A few days later, I met the teenage girls from Hitomi's school, we worked hard on the Otea "Tarita" and we also had a lot of fun!

Japan has one of the bigger Ori communities in the world. It’s not new to them as they started to introduce many years ago. Many Tahitians goes to Japan to teach, and many Japanese dancers goes to Tahiti to learn and compete...

reminds me of the movie "Hula Girls", a Japanese movie..... how they changed a mining town that was re-inventing itself to keep the town above water. they created a theme park and made an indoor tropical Hawaii and featured hula dancers.... good movie.... bless these ladies.

Yanira Samaniego It’s not duckwalk but Tifene. It’s not called Duckwalk in Te Reo Maohi. No, you squat down, bum minimum an inch above your heels, don’t sit on your heels, back straight, knees straight and together, take small shuffles while Fa’arapu. You can also do the Tifene with Tamau. If your feet gets easily sticky you will only get stuck to the floor, and fall on your face. In Tahiti they use talc/baby powder or tape underneath their soles to prevent this, and create more friction. I can Tifene w/o socks on. It’s easier in sand.
