Everything he does is done with so much clarity and intention. A very well grounded interpretation that doesn't leave any open questions!

From the photos none of them are playing the same make/model of Horn. But they have a very pure and harmonious section sound. A few strategic drop outs, and/or (I don't have a score), maybe alternate parts played? Love hearing the lower parts/harmony emphasized, supporting the lead player. Very melodic, and less percussive than some versions I've heard. Very fluid and tight on valve/note changes, as a section! One of the cleanest section performances I've ever heard. Bravo!

Ho incontrato Frans Bruggen in Italia due volte "per caso" (se il caso davvero esiste). Era una persona semplice, diretta e franca. Non si dava arie e si comportava in maniera assolutamente normale. Anche da questo ho capito che era veramente un grande!

Hermann Baumann told in an interview about his debut in the Munich Bach-Orchestra. Karl Richter: "Before we start the rehearsal: Please play something for us!" When Baumann finished his solo Richter looked at him with great eyes, saying nothing. Baumann: "Mr. Richter, shall i change something?". Richter: "NEIN!!" and a great laughter followed.

Frans Brüggen remains the immortal master of the recorder and the musical inspiration of an entire generation of amateur and professional musicians ... I was granted the honour of singing Mozart´s Requiem under his baton with the Orchestra of the 18th Century in Perugia, Italy in the summer of 2009, only 5 years before his death in 2014 ... I was mesmerized by the vigorous musicianship of my youth´s idol, even at a time when he was supported by one of his own children while going up and down the conductor´s stand ... May he rest in peace and may his memory and musical heritage last forever!

I had the pleasure of meeting Prof. Baumann for the first time in the Summer of 1973 when he performed with the Mostly Mozart Festival and had many backstage conversations with him and his wife when he performed in New York City. He remains alive in my mind and heart. Thank you for this posting!
