The strap dramatically restricts how far we can slide the front seats back for driver/passenger legroom. Anyone else encountered this?
@RearFacingToddlers

If you move the front seat all the way forward beforehand, it will usually not go as far back as you need it to afterwards. You’re supposed to put the front seat in the right position before you attach the straps and install the seat.

Does this seat go forward facing at all?? If so, how??😊
@RearFacingToddlers
@RearFacingToddlers 3 күн бұрын
No, it doesn’t. Rear facing is so much safer than forward, that all harnessed car seats up to 125cm are rear facing only.

I don't think the step where you remove the straps is necessary. That's what the zippers are for. And the shoulder pads can also be removed from the straps, no need to remove those as well. Basically, all the straps can stay on. I think it's a little dangerous to remove them, because they are safety relevant and accidentally putting them back on incorrectly is a risk for the child.

Soooo…. Hahahaha! You’re absolutely right, but I made this video when the Minikid fabrics had just been upgraded to the Minikid 2.0. With zips in the cover and Velcro on the straps, for the reasons that you gave. 🤣 The previous version didn’t have any of that and the cover had to be removed in the way that I did it in this video, so that’s what I was used to. I had no idea that the new covers had zips and Velcro until after I’d made this video, hahaha! So yeah, you’re absolutely right, you can leave the screwdriver in the cupboard!

Any idea how to get the tether points under the rail when the rail is flush against the floor?
@RearFacingToddlers
@RearFacingToddlers 6 күн бұрын
In some cars the rails are very tight and it can be difficult to get the straps under. I usually manage it with a blunt knife. There are a few other suggestions here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qnXao36cmq1_rdk

There appears to be two plastic parts that look as though they go 8t o the isofix settings. Is this correct?
@RearFacingToddlers
@RearFacingToddlers 14 күн бұрын
Yes, they are ISOfix guides for cars where the points are deep down in the upholstery. They are hardly ever needed, I think I’ve only ever fitted them in two cars and I’ve been doing this for 11 years. So you can probably just throw them in the bin.

I bought this seat today, when my son sat in it he complained the back is uncomfortable and didn't want to sit it anymore. He's quite tall (110cm) so the the head rest is raised. The back of the seat which raises the head rest (3:35) is quite firm with no padding. Is this normal? Have you had any feedback like this in the past?
@RearFacingToddlers
@RearFacingToddlers 14 күн бұрын
Hi, Yes that is normal for this seat. I've been selling (different versions of) this seat for 11 years and it's always been like this. In all that time I have only had maybe 10 people say that their child finds it uncomfortable so it's rare, but I have heard it before.

Actually you should check your manual for handle placement for your specific car seat. Also toys hanging from the handle in the car are unsafe.
@RearFacingToddlers
@RearFacingToddlers 14 күн бұрын
From 0:35 onwards I explain that although some people think that the carry handle is only there to carry the seat, or to hang toys on it, that that is not what it is for. From 3.32 onwards I emphasise the importance of rearding the instructions, and that this video is not intended to replace them.

That's a stupid idea. If you loosen the bolts on the rail on the drivers seat it makes the drivers seat unsafe. Plus seat won't go back with the belt around rail.
@RearFacingToddlers
@RearFacingToddlers Ай бұрын
You obviously tighten the bolt again after you’ve passed the strap under the rail. You need to put the front seat in the correct position before you fasten the strap, so that you won’t need to move the seat back.

The straps that attach to the seat rail are just straps, they don't ratchet. The self-tightening straps are attached to the back of the child seat. Currently the only seats that have self-tightening straps are the Axkid Minikid 2 and Minikid 4, the BeSafe Stretch and the Britax-Römer Max-Safe Pro.
