Petition to change the law on rear facing car seats

Katy started a petition to try to get the law changed to make it illegal for children under 18kg/105cm/four years to travel in forward facing car seats. In this video we discuss the government's response.

Very disappointing response from government. Thank you for raising awareness, and addressing the inaccuracies of the government response. My son is 4 years and 4 months old, and still rear facing happily in an AxKid MiniKid. He’s perfectly comfortable, has lots of space, and we definitely don’t have a big car! He’ll be in the seat until he’s over 25kg or too big for it. As he’s a small/medium sized child, I expect this to be when he’s 6/7 years.

It's very disappointing, but sadly I wasn't surprised at all. I'd have been shocked if they had said anything else to be honest. We've been doing this for so long, and it doesn't seem to get much better. The inaccuracies just show that whoever wrote that response didn't even look into it themselves.

When i read the response, my first thought was, 'Wow, the government really thinks its people are too thick to learn how to fit a carseat' 😢

I know... This has always annoyed me so much! Yes, there will always be people who use car seats incorrectly. But those same people are just as likely to get forward facing seats wrong. Forward facing is not the answer to misuse!
