Thank God he became an actor... I've always loved him as an actor. He's nothing special singing. I heard his name growing up and figured he must be something extraordinary... He's okay. I'm guessing because scat was different and new enough at the time, it was a bit of a sensation. But I was expecting something more than this. She on the other hand, had a wonderful voice. First time hearing her, or her name. Instant fan. Good watch.

errr ... white people do what? Isn't that a kind of a racist remark or ... oh, yeah! Black people can't be racist because .... they ain't white, right? 🤐 PS: I'm no doctor but the hearth doesn't beat on 2 and 4, it beats and that's it!

That clip actually came from a crazy speech he gave about how black people and white people have different brain types than each other and think on different wavelengths or some crazy eugenics stuff. This was like the lead in to it. Look it up. He's a nut.

I assumed clapping on 2 and 4 was a result of the jim crow culture. The white folk clapped on 1 and 3 so the coloured folk had to clap on 2 and 4.

I’m sorry but this is actually just not true. Snare has been played on the 2 and 4 for forever and the only people I’ve seen clap on 1 and 3 are people who just don’t do music

I don't think white americans would clap on 1 and 3. I'm not an American myself, but I'd say that music based on African-American rhythm patterns has become so widespread that unless you play classical, you will automatically learn to clap on 2 and 4. In Europe, the situation is quite different, as folk music of many nations uses the 1 and 3 pattern.
