Nice effort, but hearing Frank the Tank Mullen sounding as awesome as ever on the re-recording Ignorant Deprivation makes me sad. Somehow, even though they're not as guttural as his Effigy vocals, they sound gnarlier than ever. Raspy and nasty. Ricky is great, but Mullen is just one of those vocalists you can never replace. The musicianship on this song sounds sooooo sick, too. So much better than the original on Breeding the Spawn.

At any given moment, it sounds like Suffocation and that's wicked. By the time a song is over... little about it is memorable. Of The Dark Light had lots of rhytmically catchy riffs and ear-worm-worthy vocal phrasing that I could really sink my teeth into. Playing is top notch here... but I think I kinda miss Derek writing lyrics, assuming he was responsible for the vocal phrasing.

OmegA: honestly I can’t distinguish the lead vocals had been changed; it sounds refreshing; nevertheless I like Frank as a vocal but this guy brings suffocation to a new level . I was 20 years old when I listened suffocation for the first time , we all aged and new generation take over! Frank and suffocation lives 4 EVER!

This is my favourite Suffocation since Despise the Sun. I love how divisive reviews have been on this album on Metal Archives, for instance. People either LOVE it, or they give it a terrible review. I think that's how a band knows they are doing something right: when the haters start to run their mouths. If it was actually "mid" they wouldn't bother saying anything. I love how huge the kicks sound, it gives everything a monstrous sound. And the vocal performance is fucking BRUTAL. Consider the big shoes "'filled", in my opinion.

Just saw suffocation on November 27th 2024 in Frisco. THEY KILLED IT!!! SO SICK AND ON POINT. I STILL FEEL THEM . THANKS TO SUFFOCATION FOR THE SICK AND FUCKING LOVE OF METAL PLAYED IN FRISCO!!! HALE SUFFOCATION!!!!!
