During WWII (I was 7) we used to have Saturday nite "dance parties" in the small town I'm from. Mom would put my little sister in a wagon and we would walk 4 miles to town. We had punch and (probably some adults had liquid corn), sang and danced while waiting for the bus to bring all of the men home around midnite from a defense plant in Columbus Oh. My dad's uncle John played the fiddle and called the square dances. This was one of the tunes I remember. Sas wouldput the wagon in the trunk, Id lay down in the back seat and Dad, Mom and my lil sis would be up front and we'd ride home. ONE day of the week dad could sacrifice a little gas. The other days he rode a bicycle rain or shine - until way down in Nov. The younger generation has no clue.. Where has the time gone?

I have an insight, to a greater or lesser extent, into the instrumental mastery on show here but I can only imagine how hard it is to play a banjo like that.

Ms. Tuttle has an amazing knack for choosing fabulous musicians to play with. Golden Highway and The First Ladies of Bluegrass are magnificent. However my favourite is the Goodbye Girls. So eclectic with both a traditional and European flair. I hope they get together again someday…perhaps at a Berkeley reunion.

The fiddler who wrote Höstrusk is swedish and it translates to something similar to Autumn chill I would say. Höst is autumn/fall (the season).

Rather sad to realize that this array of musicians are the best group that Molly Tuttle ever played with. All four are Berkeley alumni. Why did they break up?
